$142 Part Number: BMW088449

$202 Part Number: 13627567451
http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...er=13627567451
Both say Manufacturer: SIEMENS/VDO
Is this just a crazy deal?
Even the $202 is significantly cheaper than anywhere else,
so I am suspicious of the $142 price.
Thoughts?
UPDATE: I bought the $142 MAF (Seimens/VDO) and it works fine. Killer price. www.furiousmethod.com

Have you tried cleaning it at first? I used to do that on all my E34s and that always worked, I don't know if its the same with the E39...just a thought!
Im not sure but i think the siemans is for 97-98 and the bosch is for newer e39s. Look into the model years it applies to.
Edit: oops that only applies to the 540
Carry on...

Get one for a 2001 vw golf 2.0 and then swap the housing. $69 for a Bosch unit and it works great.
I still own an e30, but life has picked up speed and I no longer frequent this forum or own my e39. Thanks for 7 years of help everyone!
I got a used one for sale I'f interested
Good to know!
How do you find the part number for just the sensor?
I can only find the entire MAF (13627567451)
13_0919 - HOT-FILM AIR MASS METER

What is the tool to remove the screw?
If you only replace the sensor, should you also alcohol clean the mesh screen, or does the screen not really matter?

Do you have a part # for this? Is it just a MAF sensor swap, or is it a MAF housing swap? Mine's a vanos 540. I already cleaned mine and replaced the 5 point security torx with common philips screws without much in the way of improvement. Disconnecting the MAF helped cold idle, so I assume replacing it will help even more.
EDIT:
So, I can get this:
https://www.autohausaz.com/search/pr...0Mass%20Sensor
and just remove the sensor from the VW housing and install it in my stock housing?
Heck, here's one via Amazon... $46 + $5.50 ship. I just might pull the trigger on this one, assuming it's the right one. I can swap the sensors themselves easy. Can anyone verify before I drop the cash?
On third thought, after more research, I just bought via eBay the OEM Bosch unit for $165 shipped through seller German Auto Supply. Me likely OEM for this kind of thing...

Nice finds. They sensor appears to be the OEM Bosch part number for only $46! However, you still have the issue of still having the old mesh screen. Might just be worth forking over the $165.

At your local auto parts store, You should be able to find a MAF' spray, Sort of like Carby cleaner.
Try that, 99% of the time, It works every time.
