I finally become an owner of 1996 E38 Dark Blue. And finish my first mod by spraying the front light housing mod into silver by following grateful instruction by members of cardomain.com
Wondering if any of members here has the repair and maintenance manual for e38 to share? PDF format would be an ideal.
Thanks,

7er2B,
The CD ROm called the ETK is the parts catalog. The one called the TIS is the repair manual. Both of these are widely sold on ebay and classifieds on bimmer forums and groups. There are a few other CD's that are bundled with these on ebay that you'll see a lot of the time. The ETM is the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. Unfortunately, these do not cover the E38. Another you'll see is the KSD, (computer service desk) useful for searching out defect codes meanings from the dealer waranty and out of warranty service repair invoices.
Therer was a member of the E38 owners forum who posted that he had put images of these CDs up for file transfer for free on the site ftp://ftp.ilovemybmw.com user namess Bimmer and passowrd e38power. He has had some up time issues lately, but try this and you get a set for free but you have to download them and then burn your own. If you want, also try downloading the client from www.edonkey2000.com and once you get it installed search for these files here and you can find several of them. It takes a little messing with to get the edinkey servie up and running but once ti works, it is pretty good.

ETK and ETM work fine.
However, no matter how many times I download the TIS...the image won't burn (the burning software won't burn it), and it won't open with WinISO like the ETK will.
? Help ? lol

Yea, I downloaded a different ISO reader and simply extracted the files, then burned from there.
Thanks for the link and all

He has had some up time issues lately
Sorry :)
I've had some problems lately. First Cirque De Soleil is in town and one of their trucks backed into my house and cut the cat5 that Verizon uses to supply my connection. Took two days to get that fixed. Then I had installed a RAID controller and went to build an array just to find I was sent a bad controller. RMA'd it, got a new one in the mail, it was bad too. Still waiting on attempt #3 hehe. Plus I had to shut the servers down one day whilst trying to troubleshoot an X10 problem. Turns out my server closet eats any X10 signals that try to make it upstairs in my house, hehe.
All should be good now though. I recommend you use an FTP client that can continue aborted transfers though, just in case :)
However, no matter how many times I download the TIS...the image won't burn (the burning software won't burn it), and it won't open with WinISO like the ETK will.
I test burned another TIS cd from the image on the server and it went through. Weird.

JCarey,
Many thanks, i followed your instruction to edonkey. It's quite mess trying to get it up and run as you said. When i download file, i can't find the location it downloaded in my harddisk!
When i search for 'TIS'. there are a number of locations avail for download but it show no identity of this for E38 so i stopped from there. Still mulling over on how to get it 'cos i'm not net guru.

edonkey creates a folder for itself in your Program Files folder, look inside this for the edonkey folder and inside this one, there is a folder named incoming, all downloaded files are placed in this folder.
Also if you search for files on your hard drive, look for (*TIS*.iso) and it should show up. Then double click on the icon in the search results window and it will take you there.
good luck,
