Weight of E46 M3
There are those who complain that the E46 M3 is too heavy, (and I agree). But the owner's manual indicates that the curb weight includes 1/2 tank of gas (figure 1/2 of 16 gallons X 7.5 lbs/gal = 60lbs) plus A DRIVER (don't know what BMW allows for a driver but I'd guess at least 140 lbs). So that curb weight shrinks to 3215 lbs, as other manufacturers figure it. (Ferrari even goes so far as to drain the oil and water from their engines in computing their reported curb weight, I'm told by one Ferrari driver.) Now I'm not saying that 3215 isn't too heavy, it is, but at least it's 200 lbs lighter than I thought.

The curb weight is 3450. It is not 3100 or whatever.

You are correct the curb weight in the manual 3,450 includes gas, driver and "standard" options.

I believe they take an average sized driver... I'd imagine 200lbs or there abouts.

3,450 w/ driver is optimistic. the only option on my car is power seats. no sunroof, hk stereo, etc. on the scales at englishtown raceway park my car weighed 3530 w/ me in it & 3/4 tank of gas, nothing in the trunk. i weigh 150. btw, i ran 14.2 @100, but im a pretty hopeless drag racer.

Gas weight would be the only thing that might not look right. The last gas we check was 5# per gallon. ??!?? :az:
