Weight of E46 M3
There are those who complain that the E46 M3 is too heavy, (and I agree). But the owner's manual indicates that the curb weight includes 1/2 tank of gas (figure 1/2 of 16 gallons X 7.5 lbs/gal = 60lbs) plus A DRIVER (don't know what BMW allows for a driver but I'd guess at least 140 lbs). So that curb weight shrinks to 3215 lbs, as other manufacturers figure it. (Ferrari even goes so far as to drain the oil and water from their engines in computing their reported curb weight, I'm told by one Ferrari driver.) Now I'm not saying that 3215 isn't too heavy, it is, but at least it's 200 lbs lighter than I thought.
