Changing my oil next weekend. Wanting to go with Lubro Moly, but best price I can find is outrageous @ Bav Auto.
Hoping there is someone locally selling this oil or another higher quality oil that meets all of BMW's requirements...and is a TRUE synthetic.
Wanting to go 5W-40 (will probably step back down in a month or so when next oil change is due to 5W-30 as it cools off).
Shoot, while I'm at it, how about getting a Mahle or Mann oil filter locally other than the stealership? Looks like I can get them in bulk online fairly cheaply, but wouldn't mind supporting a local retailer.

I want to say Impart n Mableton has them ( I think I remember seeing them last time I was there...), but call and see first?

My roommate is an Amsoil distributor. If you want something, just let me know.

Hmm, they have a website? What all do they sell?

How fast do orders through him ship?

They're an auto parts store that specializes in VW, Benz, and BMW replacement parts.
I couldn't find a website for them. It's a small-ish place, but they can get what you need usually by afternoon if you let them know what you need in the morning.

After the order is placed, I usually receive it in about 4-5 days.
EDIT: All the orders are shipped to his location. And then arrange to meet the buyer somewhere.

I just went ahead and ordered 3 filters from a forum vendor and will just go with Mobil 1 0w40 from either Wal-Mart or Advance Auto Parts.
We'll see how the M1 of this weight goes (the 5W30 M1 is thinner than piss)...if it still burns a lot, even with the temps cooling off out (finally), then I'll revisit Lubro.

Try Rotella 5w40. Great stuff, and I *think* it's a full synthetic. Don't quote me on that. The price won't kill the wallet either. Best part is that it can be found at any Wally World (Walmart).
As for Lubro Moly, I've seen it at a few Pep Boys, but mostly at O'Reilly locations.

I'd just go with Mobil 1 0W40 European Formula. You can buy it locally at Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts.

This is option 1
Option 2 for a street only car
Castrol GTX 20-50... change every 3,000 miles and you are set!

European Formula is hard to find. The last time I found some, there were only 4 bottles of it.

Eh. The Castrol seemed too thick for my tastes. If anything, I would notice a performance hit when I ran it in my 325i.
