Difference between 320 vs 318 ??

I asked this once before but I can't find the thread when i searched for it.

Whats the difference between the 320 and 318 with the e36 body style ?? Is the engine built more suited for racing ?? If so how much does a 320 engine sale for ??

318 has around 130ish hp
and 320 has 150 hp

that's what I know about it...

I don't think this engine is for racing...
there is no aftermarket support....well, a little bit in europe...
it is not popular...becoz price was close to 325 and performance
is not far better than a BPU 318.....

oh yeah 320i engines are extremely hard to find because 1) only sold in certain contries 2) in thoes contries not many people buy them 3) how many people with 320i engies actually swap?!
i just found out that 320i has 5spd auto so that something to work with... im just in the beginning stages to mod mine up... but parts are a bitch to find to fit the car

I highly doubt the 320 5spd auto is the same as the ZF 5spd on
M3.

there is after market support... just harder to find
for some reason the exhaust is different but a 325 or m3 exhaust conversion is simple... all you need is the cat converter and the exhaust... simple bolt on
but the inside of an auto m3 looks the same as auto 320i... auto 320i and 325 look different
i dont think 325 has a winter driving mode like the 320 does

aftermarket support for 320?

try looking in asia/UK. eg singapore. we've tons of 320s here n 318s due to our tax structure.

and engines are abundant here too. though i doubt u'll want them. the 6 cylinder 320 doesnt really put out much in terms of hp either. 150?? slightly more hp n torque than a 318is.

modding up a 2 litre 6 pot ...well... how much do u intend to gain? even with FI (excluding low compression pistons)
.. u'll hit maybe 220hp? slightly more than a m50 325 w intake/ exhaust. and with the 325 u'll have a very clean setup with no messy pipes and heat problems from the turbo
