When you delete the heater core:

Do you block off the two heater hose nipples at the engine? or,
Do you fabricate a loop at the engine from the output to input nipple?

I don't have a S-52, but I do have a M-52. My heater lines are plugged, I just think of it as my heater is off perminetly. I also have heater hoses that go to the intake TB that are just plugged also.

Make a block off plate at the back of the cylinder head. Extend the hose that runs from the coolant tank to the fitting at the back of the water pump.

TC Design has a great kit for heater core removal. It uses a block off plate with a port for a temp gauge. It also comes with a bolt in plate that covers the gaping hole in the firewall left by the missing core.

We have them in stock, they are not on the site currently. If you give us a call we can get a kit out to you the same day. The price for the kit is $150 until the end of the year.

if you don't want anything fancy, you can do the same basic thing (minus temp gauge) with about $5 worth of parts. all you have to do is splice the coolant hoses together with a $3 stainless steel double-male end nipple and some hose clamps. then close off the holes in the firewall. easy, except for the time removing the intake manifold.

I installed my TC Design plate yesterday. SUPERB kit, hats off to Tony for coming up with this. He makes low fab skilled people like me look good. I think my car is going to be a rolling advert for his stuff from the block off plate, gauge panel and quick disconnect wheel adapter. All of his stuff is simply beautiful... BTW he is fabbing up a nice set of door panels too! If my local cage builder falls through on my E30 I will need to ship my car to Milpitas. If only TCDesign wasn't so far away....

I have some photos of the build that I have been wanting to post for some time now. I will go ahead and get them uploaded and post a link here tomorrow. FWIW the head block off was not easy to install despite having most of the car disassembled. To be fair, my lead tech, Kevin, did the install.

Ship the car? Wasn't so far? If only I were as close as Folsom ;)

Happy and well protected by one of Tony's cages :D

Yeah I know, TCD is not that far away actually. We have been swapping labor with a shop that builds Honda challenge cars. We do all of his corner balancing, alignments and wheel/tire stuff. In return he is building cages for our shop cars.

Off topic, I think your son was one of my students at the Street Survival school in Sacramento. Red e36 4dr with a GC setup right? He had an unfair advantage in the slalom and skid pad... :)

EDIT: Photos of the car under the knife are here:

Must have been someone else. I don't have a living son. If he were my son, I'd be proud of his suspension choice :D

BTW, linky didn't work for me.

I am confused, my bad. There was a kid from Grant's Pass and mumbling about the red E36, his dad's name was Jay. I put 1 and 1 together and came up with 3!!! Maybe it was Jay from GC? Oh well... The link worked for me...

EDIT: If my E30 is not satisfactory I am going to trailer my car to TCD.... I bet there's a BIG waiting list

Now I'm curious.

I got an e-mail from a guy recently who's father lives in GP. But he lives in Arkansas.

If there's someone else in my neighborhood that's tracking their car I'd like to make contact with them.

Jay from GC lives near you. I met his son at the club race at TH in Aug. Seems to me he probably still lives at home.

Tony will take good care of you. I had my cage done over the winter a couple of years ago.
