Well I was wondering what all you people listen to when you feel like driving fast. Im going to burn a cd and I want to find some new songs. I want the kind of song that when it comes on the radio you just feel like hauling.

Doenst matter what genre I just want some opinions

Aside from Kids suggestion of course.

What you need is an epic song, but the problem is what music do you listen to? Try "Muse - Time is Running out" and when the chorus comes on don't tell me you didn't smash the pedal.

Story of the Year - Take me Back

Chevelle - Another know it all

Powerman 5000 - Hey, that's right!

I can't resist burying the pedal to these. These songs helped me develop my heel and toe downshifting technique:)

Alright, for you lazy buggers, I've compiled a list. I'm planning on editing it as more get added, so if you want to help, please list your suggestion as "Artist - Song Title".

ex: "AFI - I cry because I'm 15"

kthx

My suggestions: Anything off the Driv3r soundtrack is good, but these in particular:

Ravonettes - Bowels of the Beast
SLO-MO - Boy from the city
Teddybears STHLM - Move Over

Well, rap isn't really go fast music. Unless it makes you wanna mash the go pedal, then more power to you. Rock, and Techno/Trance/Dance are more commonly asscociated with godspeed driving.

I actually make many of these albums because I like to cruise to good music.

When racing professionally, I recommend listening to the engine... but when just driving fast, I recommend:

The Devin Townsend Band - Bad Devil
Static X - Get to the Gone
Fear Factory - New Breed (or any of the remixes of this song)
Rob Zombie - Meet the Creeper
Pantera - Hellbound
Slayer - Reign in Blood

And if you like rap:
Whoever mentioned Tech N9ne is on the money.
Any other rap is made to go slow to.

Did you see my post before with the classic rock? You may enjoy some of it.

Yes I did, and I would. Your "classic" reply prompted mine.
And let me tell ya, although my memory does fail me occasionally, a Radar Love screamin night in '74 in my ole '62 Studebaker (V8), 3 on the column w/ OD, is still vivid. (Have to admit though, it was a little sloppy in its' cornering:rolleyes ) But it did have "hill-hold"!

One more: Sweet Emotion:D

Atmosphere - 1597
"Hence forth, Step within my psycho analasis; the calice's upon my mind make me strain for my line.
Out I ripped it, Squeezed the brain and made some liquid; Drained it in a cup and then I sipped it Atmosphere!"
The mic, let me clutch it; Thoughts take flight, So fit Slug in your pipe - and take a puff kid..."
Fuck it

Atmosphere - One of a Kind

" The way she listen to what the mc said
She might as well plug the RCA cords into her head
Taking that into consideration at the center of creation
Cats still criticize my frustration raps

Well off he goes, coming cop some flows
Cross your toes and hopes that I don't climb you like an obstacle
Mission impossible, fishig in the kitchen sink
Ya'll fall for anything so what you think this kid will bring

Poker face, let me hold my place
The name is safe as Slug, but you, you can call me stroker ace
Open invitation to catch today's ejaculation all across the front
Of your pretty little apron

This goes to those that own a mouth full of Sean's load
Thanks for starting, now you're barking down the wrong road
Sacrifice plays a part in grabbing mics
From now to the afterlife I'll continue passion-like

I love this fucking whore with all my heart
And ain't nobody gonna stop me from doing my part
It gave me life, it saved me life, it raised me right
So slide sholder slide and please hand over that mic

[chorus 2x]
Who am I? One of a kind, Send em' one at a time
You're all the same only separate by kick snares and names
And some of ya'll even share the same names
So fuck you and your lies baby, show no shame

So point a finger at the sucker that's having a good summer
Ain't got no bread, no need to know wonder
But I got the phone number to this weakness
I know who can put me back together, make me feel whole

So take me apart, try to break me down,
Spend all you got just to hate the clown.
You can fake the frown, imitate the sound
Underworld, world-wide, wide world of underground
It goes, one little, two little, three little indie rap
Headphones, backpacks watch em' all piggyback
Switch up my styles, they all complain
But see which kids next year sound the same as me?

The same shit yesterday was like today
Only difference is I trust even less of what you say
But all in all I still make the noise, I still break the toys, I still hate your voice
I still say fuck a major label till it limps,
Put your deal up our table and we'll show you who's the pimp.
There is no sympathy for the careless,
Fuck the extra credit and fuck the demerits.
Class dismissed.

I've had the S/T and The Darkest Red the same ammount of time, but the S/T doesn't have all the melodic choruses and such. Only tracks on it I still really like are Prey, The Darkest Red, Screams Turn To Silence and Procession. We Bury Our Dead At Dawn though, incredible.

You know, I almost paid to see Kittie and Otep JUST to see The Agony Scene, decided that they'd only play like 10 minutes and the show was a good 4 hours away... decided against it.

No offence but most metal I have ever been introduced to, all sounds the same. But really when you label somehing as metal or hiphop or rock or progressive...etc., you limit what that artist/music can be or evolve to. I LOVE MUSIC. My only love that comes before automotive.

Hmm... let me introduce you to metal that I like... None of these should sound the same, if they do, that's cool it must just be your personal taste in music.

Fear Factory
Soulfly
Strapping Young Lad
Rebel Meets Rebel
Godsmack
Rammstein

No two of those sound the same. And on a side note, I just made a new compilation I've deemed "Speed Freak Mix," and I'll share the tracklist with you all.

Angel of Death - Slayer
Sic - Slipknot
Babylon - Soulfly
Revenge of the Zombie - Six Feet Under
Skinnyman - Static X
Untitled Track - Heaven's Theory (my cousin's band, doubt you'll find it for a while)
Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr - Trivium
Not Falling - Mudvayne
Darkness Surrounding - Avenged Sevenfold
Detox - Strapping Young Lad
Convicted in Life - Sepultura
Open the Abscess - Exhumed
Explode - Damage Plan
Benzin - Rammstein
Martyr - Fear Factory
99 - The Haunted
I Am - Static X
Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel
Moment of Impact - Fear Factory

Also, I don't see how fans' categorizing of music can limit the artist. As long as the artists don't limit themselves, they will always be innovative. And how could anything labeled "Progressive" not evolve? :buttrock

I do like a bit of FF, Soulfly, and Ramstein.
But I really don't consider them metal. When I think of metal I think of constant double bass sixteenth notes, undistingishable guitar riffs and monotone, deep raspy vocals. This is the reason I dont like labeling things into generes. Because you said metal and this is what I thought. You get me?

Hey Thanks 325xi. Actually, I'm not that old, as in "toothless bearded hag".
Reading this thread, it take me back to the days of cruising in my very first car which was a 75 Oldsmobile Omega v8 engine back in the early 80's. I'd put in a brand new audio system and blasted "Rock and Roll" everytime I drove that tank. Robert Plant's screeching voice hauntingly filled the air
in So Cal mid-summer's night was all it would take to get the damn thing moving at the speed of light. Music matters with good cars. :buttrock

Just about any rhythmic electronica. Personal preference is trance and faster darkwave. Rap/hiphop goes with cruising around a city more than bombing highways. Classical is somewhere in between. Rock and metal are good on their own, but don't synergize with driving at all, IMHO.

My best recommendation is Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians, particularly tracks 4, 7, and 9. Track 8 (Deeply Disturbed) is also good, but is more relaxing and meditative rather than lively and agressive. They're psytrance and a bit esoteric for most people's tastes.

BP Empire > Converting Vegetarians? Agreed, for listening, but the latter wins slightly for driving. BP is generally a lot deeper, more meditative and makes me contemplate rather than sense and enjoy what I'm doing in the moment (like driving). Depends on why I'm driving, I suppose, but going fast usually corresponds to enjoying the drive rather than...going for a walk but in a car.

Both awesome, however. But the last third of Song Pong while accelerating 80-140...

You get me?

Metal is probably more diverse than any other genre, there are countless different kinds of bands.

Necrophagist? (Onset of Putrefaction CD)

You win, guy. Flat out.

Hell yeah!

I used to have a copy of Rallysport Extreme 2 but my friend messed with the soundtrack so every third race or so "Chemicals" would play.
