It looks like I will NEVER have enough time or energy to focus on my E24, so sadly she is going up for sale :(
The Car:
1987 BMW L6
Cirrus Blue over White
The story:
I purchased this from an engineer working for a large defense contractor last year. The car had been his weekend-fun car, and had been garaged it's entire life. The guy purchased a new toy (classic Merc SL) so this got pushed out of the garage.
The owner had know this car dating back to 1987, when his buddy and coworker purchased the car while they were both living and working in CA.
The original owner wanted a new BMW several years ago, so the GA guy purchased it prior to his transfer to the SE.
The overall condition:
I have loved and followed the 6er for quite some time. I have been active in the SE Sharkfest events, and know these cars.
This is hands down, one of the nicest original E24s you will find.
It isnt museum or showroom condition, but in great condition for a weekend/daily driver.
The interior is complete. The seats and leather are supple and soft- free of tears or rips.
Paint is original, and is slightly faded. It could use some rubbing compound and a good wax.
The issues:
The tranny seems to shudder under heavy acceleration.
I haven't looked into this, but best case, it needs some tranny fluid.
Worst case, you need to swap a used tranny into it.
The front spoiler was damaged when the car was pulled into a parking spot too far. There was no other damage, just the spoiler.
This will need to be replaced.
The records indicate the full AC system (front and back) was rebuilt a few years ago. From what I understand some guy in Texas put the wrong freon in the system, so this needs to be purged and refilled.
From what I understand, the AC should work once this is completed.
The bonus!
I have just about every record for this car dating back to 1987!
This car has had the proper service and maintenance done, and the records will show this!
The car comes with a really nice car cover. I forgot which one, it its the heavy duty version that usually runs in the 300-400 range.
The price:
The real value to this car is the fact that it is original, zero rust, no damage (no counting the front spoiler), complete records, and ready to be loved and restored.
With some TLC and attention, this car would be an easy 10k car.
My asking price is 4999.99
*I am open to trades....just make sure they arent "project cars" :)
The location:
The car is located in Winchester, TN. 37398
The pics: (I will try to take some much better pics this weekend)
