a couple weeks ago i ordered HIRs for my stock headlights..... im not real impressed, i dont notice any difference, aside from the lights being just a tad bit brighter there was no other difference..... same color, same viewing distance, look the same as the stock headlights from inside the car driving it at night......... there was no point in taking a picture of the stock headlight beam next to the HIR one, because i drove with the stock 9006 in the left headlight and the 9012 HIR in the right headlight and there was no difference at all, if i had bad short term memory i would've forgotten all about it!
needless to say ill be selling my HIRs soon(or giving them to racerhoze), as i am just gonna get some ellipsoids and Xenons, i have bad night vision and i just hate the stock headlights they dont put out enough light for me, and the HIRs arent any different, id say it was a huge waste of my money and time..
here are some pics though of the install!!
racerhoze helped me put them in, he dremeled the tab down so they would fit, they fit great i must say.

one on the left is the HIR, see the white crap on the tab? thats what we had to dremel off to make it fit

interesting. I would like HID's, but cannot justify the cost.

HIDS arnt as expensive as they were awhile ago...you can get a nice aftermarket kit from umnitza for around 230ish with lifetime warrenty. Definitly worth the money IMO, much better lighting and turns alot of heads.

It's not about the money IMO... HIDs seem to be the cheaper solution in the long run (you always end up spending more in multiple halogen bulbs as they don't last too long) but I really don't want to deal with the ballasts and the LBF messages... not for now at least.

99% of our customers with Prolumen don't get that message on the E36:)

Cool (good luck for the other 1%, lol :D)
Now you only need some HIDs that don't use ballasts and I will be ordering a set right away! haha j/k
