KA 4993 License Plate frame? CHP

Does anyone know about this license plate frame? I heard it means that you have family in the CHP. So in other words they will give you a break? Any info would be awsome.

i have not heard about that plate but i do have the 11-99 foundation plate and badge for the chp that works very well. :D

About 95% positive they are given out to either LAPD or LA Co. sheriffs. One of my very close friend's complete family are all either LAPD or Sheriff related and all have them on their cars. Will ask again to be more specific. They are those plates that read KA - **** (diff. no's) and are blue on white lettering, if I remember correct.

At first these KA*** and KMA*** license frames might have given you some consideration, but abuses from the public and the fact that just about anybody can get their hands on one of these frames has reduced their effectiveness over the years. If the officer does intend to give you a break after pulling you over, he will sometimes ask the name of the family member and check his computer for varification.

I heard they were also having issues with gang members and other law enforcement haters targeting family members and relatives of officers that had these license plate frames, which contributed to their discontinuation. It's unfortunate because being a member of the law enforcement family is a source of great pride for many people, and they can't proudly fly the colors without being shot at by some banger...whereas the chances are much less for someone sporting a firefighter license plate.

If you have a family member that is in law enforcement (it should be a very close member, IMO), then tell the officer if you want...but don't expect a handout.
