:rolleyes
I have a 2000 740iL and unfortunately was a car from CA and was moved to Idaho and never had the winter package. I would like to install heated seats. I have an option of going to a local after market dealer here in town and have them installed however I'd like to have a more stock/OEM installation if possible. The after market ones will have a switched drilled into the side of the seat for the ON/OFF button. I found another possibility and would like to know if it's possible and feasable to install them. I found the center console button switch provided by BMW for about $175. This has all the buttons including DSP, rear sun shade and heated seat buttons along with other buttons that I'll probably not need which is ok. If one where to purchase the center button console unit and the required parts to connect to the heated seat element, could I have either a BMW dealer or non-dealer install it? I've tryied to search for the heated seat element part number and cannot find one. I have found the center console button unit and the heat seat inter connect wire which I think probably goes from the button unit to the seat element. Can anyone help me with this information? Has anyone done a retro OEM fit of heated seats. Like I said before, If it's alittle bit more to do it with BMW parts, I'll do it. The after market option is $250 per seat. A guy at BMAPARTS recommened comming here and asking first. Also he recommended going head with the after market non-OEM fit, however said if we could find all the parts needed for an OEM fit, he might beable to get me the parts. I figure spending alittle more keeps the value of the car and keeps it OEM.

Hope to hear from anyone. Thank you

Check out E38.org, there's a complete DIY on rear seat retrofit that is easily adjustable... the only difference is the front seats are a little more complicated and the power source comes from the front right kick panel.

Thank you Trnsprtr. I'll let you know what I come up with. This was the info I think I needed. I'll see what all the labor costs are and see if he's going to be feasable to get one installed. Thank you.
