exterior window trim (shadowline trim) help

i have tried to search on google bfc etc. and came up with nothing for a diy on how to repaint my damaged window trim or w/e its called. i was thinking about just covering my exterior and masking off the surrounding area with painters tape and newpaper, but the problem would be that if i were to miss a spot and accidently paint a spot or the paint might bleed throught the newpaper on my car. Is there a way to remove this trim so i can sand down everything and repaint. if so can u guys help a brother out :]

I would suggest getting a new one. They are only $35 each side and they are now plastic so they wont rust.
