OK well I just started my S52 E30 today, seems to not be firing right so I want to confirm I hooked up the coil packs right. Cylinder 6 at firewall, Cyl 1 at front plug wires fall back to front numbered 6-5-4-3-2-1, is this right? Anyhow the car runs like shit btu is running anyhow and barely chugs along under load.

According to page 120-7 of the Bentley manual, the E36 6-cylinders are all 1-5-3-6-2-4.

That is the firing order, but the plug to coil connections are 1-2-3-4-5-6 front to back.

yeah thats how I have the plugs wired in, hmm maybe a plug or coil is bad, They were the ones on the engine when I bought it running in a full running car

I don't know if it's correct, but this Pelican Parts writeup says that the coil vs cylinder order doesn't matter:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/E36-Spark-Plugs/E36-Spark-Plugs.htm
"Simply remove the coil/plug assembly and place it off to the side. All of the coils are the same, so it doesn't matter which cylinder bank it came off of - unless you are specifically trying to troubleshoot a bad coil fault code that was displayed by the main computer."
