What's required for 750 brakes? I know I need of course calipers, rotors, and pads. Anything else? Will the rotors fit in my stock wheels? What other bmws are a straight brake upgrade? Thanks

IIRC you need 17" rims to fit

Doesn't the 750 have 16s though?

That site is coming back bit by bit (no pun intended) as a wiki. SloCar might know more...

Not worth the effort. I have 750 brakes, and its not that much better than stock. I would either hold out and pay for a REAL brake kit, or at least do the M5 or 8 series brakes. They are WAY better.

It really depends on whether or not you have US or Euro Spec 750 brakes. I have researched the topic A LOT, and have come to the conclusion that:
Euro 3.8 M5 Brakes>Euro 750 Brakes Marginally>US3.6 M5 Brakes>US 750 Brakes>Stock E34 Brakes.
Euro 3.8 M5- 4 piston 345 MM
Euro 750- 4 piston 324 MM
US M5- 2 Piston 324MM
US 750- 2 piston 314mm
The E31 ones will fit E34.
The E31 CSI ones are the same as floater E34 M5
The E31 840 Brembo resemble the E38 ones (that don't fit!), fit the E34, but different from:
The E32 750iLs ones, which fit the E34 obviously, have the same components as the floater calipers yet carry smaller rotors ( 324 over 345mm).

4pot or 2 pot?

2 pot. I had access to them cheap, and I was only wanting extra thickness so I don't warp rotors as easy. I didn't honestly know there was a diff. with euro 750 brakes......
But for the amount of money the regular Joe would have to spend to aquire the parts from a euro 7 or a 3.8 M5, wouldn't you be fairly close to just buying a kit?

yes wokke is selling the euro 750s for ~$1000 IIRC. For $1200 or so you can get the tcd kit for all 4.

Hmm, sounds like I'd be better off going with stock because I really planned on keeping my stock wheels and getting some Fuzion HRI's. I'm just worried about brake fade when pushing the car for long periods of time on the track or on a run through the twistys.

For cheap, it is worth it on a regular e34. I agree, if you have to pay going rates for the parts, might aswell go for the BBK from a company.
However, if you ever come across the 750 stuff cheap, then why not? Th eproblem is, sometimes, when you upgrade to the 4pot, your pedal becomes spongy, and you need to upgrade your MC, or buy a new one that can sustain the pressure. It sort of becomes a nuisance I guess.

Fuzion's? I would suggest Falken's personally.
IMO, a nice set of brake pads (hawks) with a nice set of rotors (zimmerman's) and you will be allright. Also, put new race spec brake fluid, or else you will overheat it and loose brake feel.
I will be running slotted/drilled Zimmerman's or reputable rotors with some HAps HP++ pads next time around I am changing brakes.

I want either Fuzions or Kumho Ecsta ASXs because both are cheap and the Kumhos are V rated. I couldn't find any Falkens on Tire rack that fit my car. What type of falkens are you suggesting? Also how much are they per tire? From what I hear, the the fuzions get the thumbs up as the best all season for 225/60/15 for the price.

Kumho's are crap. They also blow at the sidewall. I;ve heard of two people have that problem. I've ran Falken Ze512 and Currently am running 912's, they are pretty good, cheap, and sticky. What i paid for them would be of no merit to you as you guys get everything cheaper than we do.

US e34 M5 has single piston calipers. (same on a euro 3.6, and early 3.8)

Isn;t that what I said? 1 on each side? So 2 piston.

your list says 2 piston, but an e34 m5 caliper has a single piston on one side only. The calipers on my m5 look like these:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HD93&mospid=47412&btnr=34_0443&hg=34&fg=05g
Isn;t that what I said? 1 on each side? So 2 piston.
with that logic then the 750 brakes should be 8 pots.
when you talk about brake piston count, you refer to how many pistons are used to clamp a single rotor.
US M5, 3.6L + euro 3.6L and pre 94 3.8L = single piston caliper
mid 94 3.8L = 4 piston caliper

OT: So, just to confirm...E38 (Euro) 4-pot calipers will not fit E34s without extensive modification?
I believe the US 750's are the same as the 540 and 740 brakes... on the same chassis, which is single piston calipers.

are they compatible with e39?
bmw changed the bolt spacing on the e39 and probably the e38. think that is why the later cars brakes no longer crossover to e28 e31 e32 e34.
someone go measure a set with a dial caliper and then you'll know.

E39 stuff won't fit on the e34, however Im not sure about the e38.

I recommend not getting Fuzion HRi's. They're cheap and last forever (I have ~50% tread left after 3 years), but are noisy and don't grip well. I replaced them with Yokohama AVS dB's from another car, which are much better - they grip about as well, but are a lot quieter and smoother.
I thought E32 brakes didn't fit E34's at all?

well that's easy to find out then..
Go take off the caliper and then test fit the e38.
you don;t even have to touch the fluid lines.
take pictures and measurements and let us know how it goes.

Can someone confirm fitment?

I did the 850i Brake upgrade on my 535i, the early e31 single pot calipers. This was one of the best upgrades I did to the car. Along with m5 calipers in the rear the car stops on a dime.
Mr. project is selling a set for a damn good price. I suggest you get it. Of course, you can't run 15" wheels anymore.

Yes Peter, I currently have e31 850i Brake up front (324x32).
But I found a set of e38 750i 2pots caliper (334x32).
Im sure that rotors will fit but I doubt carrier & caliper
If they fit then I will keep them as spare.:stickoutt
I just want to fill up the space in my M-Par :embarrasm

Im waiting for your "Small Brake Upgrade" also. But you're using Willwood 6 piston calipers.
Im just curious that e38 brake(rotors+carriers+calipers) would be a direct bolt on for e34.
