Ouch, that's early coming from the southside. I may have to catch up for the lunch in Helen and do the reverse route. Hopefully there won't be too many tourists on the road by then.

Not to worry, we may be pushing it back a few hours just due to a number of people's conflict with travel time.

    I'll keep you guys posted.

I happen to work in Helen GA and I have another friend who lives in Cleveland, I'm sure me and him wouldn't mind showing you guys around up there seeing how we drive those roads almost every weekend.

I think that the only requirement for the "old-timers" is if you let some of us less fortunate e30 owners drive your cars.

every weekend would be fun. had a friend with a built mini S that hit the dragon about every weekend. knew that road like the back of his hand... till a bear jumped out in front of him, and he crashed into a tree. glad he's alright though

Nothing less fortunate about driving an e30!

I might be in but 7:30 on a sunday.... I may run up with Peete and meet for lunch and the drive back...

Glad to hear he is ok. The only thing bad about the open road is the element of surprise. On a track one of two things can happen. Your car breaks, or someone hits you. But on the road there are more uncontrolled circumstances ei: bears, dear

yeah jeff, when we went to the dragon in 06 with the mini event, someone hit a bear on thur, and had a messed up car all weekend. and someone rolled down an embankment 80ft, but got out fine. open roads are dangerous.

About 4 or five years ago we had a huge MTNrun and some kid (who borrowed his brother's M3/4) came around a blind curve and had to swerve to avoid cars ahead that had stopped. He went off the road and down into a ravine and totalled the car. He was really lucky that he wasn't killed.

There are no winners or losers on mountain runs. Just drivers who get to enjoy life and their rides another day.

We had a kid, 16 yr old, driving an e90 330i on the Tail of the Dragon run last year pass a car up hill.
Luckily nothing happened, but if he didn't have traction/stability controls then he would have ended up off the mountain.

Yes, I plan on driving that point home before we leave the Best Buy parking lot.
We will be handing out maps, so nobody has to feel pressured to 'catch up' or drive 'fast'. If you feel like stopping for a photo-op DO IT! I'm sure a bunch of us will be willing as well, yet another thing to go over before departure that morning

I'd like to remind everyone that plans on going to bring a still camera and video camera if you have one. Why not have some pics and vids to share once we get back

You can PM or email Me or Bridget for the details (if you can't read the JPEG above)
