    Arrow Smoked a 300C

It was this: With the 5.7 hemi.

From the stoplight he punched it (we were going back and forth for a few lights/streets) so I hit the gas. I heard the big V8 open up. (his car sounded pretty good)

Through 1st I pulled ahead and as the car shifted to 2nd around 55MPH I was 1-2 cars ahead. So I let off. The speedlimit was 35 but nobody around, he kept going to ~60-65 or so.

I just detailed it too so that made it even better.
    Fun race for sure.

unless ur FI I doubt he was racing, or had balls to go WOT. The only N/A fast E38 Ive seen on forums, is the 4.8L 6 speed E38 owned by m5james

Shenanigans, unless you were in the Mustang. Even then, who considers a race to what...45-50(?)...a race?

Hey I call it like it is.

Neither my car or his is considered "fast", just mine is "faster" than his.
There was another red light up ahead, wasn't safe to speed anymore. That's why it ended quickly.

I have killed more 300c's and charger rt's than all other cars combined, along with a couple of their big brother SRT8 variants. So, I'm very familiar with that 5.7 as well as your 740 and your story sounds believable to me. So many haters/doubters, can't post anything without video anymore . Great job!

Thanks! Nice cars you got there. I wanted an XJR, but loved the 740 syle. Wish it had the supercharger power of that Jag though.

First off, don't compare your car to a 740. Secondly, I've seen your video vs the srt-8 - very impressive, however it's not what I'd call a kill, not to mention it's an N/A car. And thirdly, once again, don't compare a 740 to your car.

Actually, they're well capable of flat 14's at 100. More than one magazine tested them at 14.2-14.3.

Power-to-weight and most importantly, torque-to-weight (important from a stop) all favors the 300C.

Don't forget, the 300C might be 4000 lbs, but the 740 is 4200 lbs. The lighter car has 340 HP/390 TQ, and the other has 280 HP/310 TQ. They're both auto, so driver error is not involved. More like driver indifference: The 300C, IF it was indeed a "C" (all "C" designated cars have V8s), was not racing.

It was racing, that's for sure. It was a V8 also, it did have a "C" after the "300". Didn't know what that designation was for, but the v8 sound is not easily mistaken for a V6. Exactly what I wrote is how it happened. Maybe that car has a tall first gear? It did have large wheels 19-21"? So that dosn't help him off the line either. Anyway I beat him, so that's all there is too it.

I have a friend with a 300c. He has the srt-8 20's on it, and bone stock with the 20's it ran an average of a 14.4-14.5.

He's added a CAI and Predator ecu tuning, and it feels MUCH quicker now. Hopefully when we hit up the strip in the spring he'll be hitting 13's.

The point is, no 740 is going to keep up with that.

My GF in her SLK350 7A beat me to a light once. I had traction issues. It could happen.

She said she started in 3rd though! LMAO!!

That pic you posted looks like the SRT-8 one? Is that what you raced? If so props to your 740 for taking down an SRT-8.

He's saying that his buddy's regular 300C that's handicapped by the heavy SRT8 20-inch rims, still manages mid 14's at the track - not the high 14-second car it's been claimed to be in this thread.

Haha, no no, it's a regular 300C, but he put on the 20 inch rims from the SRT-8 version.

I ran a 300C at the track....It got the good lane and it was a nice cool night in Spokane (not sure what the elevation is).....It ran 14.5 bone stock time and time again.

I ran a couple when I had my Rustang GT which ran a best of 14.4 at the track and I pulled dead even with them all day long....I could pull and neither could they.....My Rustang GT was stock from 2004.

Not disputing that it is possible for one to run a low 14 with absolute perfect conditions, but the chances that the E38 owner ran into one of those on the road is highly unlikely.

On another note, I ran the 300C at the track in my Camaro when it just had 4.10 gears and a tune......I wasn't paying attention when the tree started to count down so he tree'd the shit out of me, I then had a terrible launch, and I put the clutch in at 1/8th track and coasted the rest of the way down the 1320...................................I still beat him

It's all about conditions. Track, weather, etc. Considering your 2004 Mustang GT is ALSO capable of flat 14's to even high 13's stock in the right conditions, it's not inconcevable that the 300C right next to you is capable of the same.

    It's not a McLaren, just a v8 chrysler 300. The one I beat wasn't the SRT8.
