I had an accident at 9:30 this morning. Travelling in the left lane on Bellairs drive which is a dual carrage way, an empty double trailer brick truck was in the right lane doing 60km, same speed as me, next to me. A bakkie pulled into Bellairs drive from one of the side streets and moved into the right lane in front of us. Instead of the truck driver slowing down for the bakkie in front of him, he deceided to pull into my lane without checking his mirrors. His wheels on the front trailer struck me on the front right fender which pushed me off the road and straight into a tree, it happend so quickly I had no time to brake and hit the solid tree dead-on at about 50km. The truck driver never stopped, maybe he didn't even know what he had done or knew he was guilt and fled the scene, who knows.
Paramedics were called by a bystander, 3 towtrucks arrived before the ambulance, typical! I had the towtruck take my 325i home which was 900m from the accident, he then wanted to charge me R2800 for the tow, I didn't have that kind of money on me and gave him R260 which was all I had in my wallet. He then said he'll drive me to and ATM to draw the rest, I told him to get stuffed because I needed to go to the hospital, this whole time I had blood dripping from my face. The bystander that helped me took me to the Mulbarton hospital in his beautifully restored MG.
I received 6 stitches inside my lower lip, 4 outside my lower lip, a broken nose, a black eye, a cut inside my upper lip, seatbelt burn marks from my shoulder to my stomach and across my pelvis too. A few cuts and bruises to my left leg and my face and left ear.
This is a rare example where an airbag does more harm than good. If I didn't have an airbag, my face wouldn't look so bad right now.
Anyway, pics!
Where the truck hit me, notice the dented-in fender and tyre marks.
Interior, the 6cyl engine had been pushed back by the space of two cylinders, thats why the interior looks so bad.
I had pulled loose glovebox off in this pic already.
Two pics of my face, looks worse in person. Looks like I did a few rounds against Tyson!
DAMN, atleast this wasnt the alpine, and good thing you arent hurt worse

damn that sucks bro, I fucking hate truck drivers!
Ouch, looks like your allright, that cant be said from the bmw though.
nuking futz glad you will be ok! A car is a piece of metal, your body is much more fragile, speedy recovery and get well soon!
Airbags ftl in MOST accidents. srsly.
Damn. That thing got punched right in the nose. Glad to see you're somewhat okay.

Dude hope you get better. Did anyone gets the truckers plate?
those hood latches are pretty damn strong!
what happened to your shifter? was it an auto with manual pedals or something?
good thing it wasn't too serious. sorry about the car though
hate to see people get hurt in car accidents particularly when they are not at fault. Hope you get better, and get everything sorted out. How is your back also?
POW right in the kisser...

Wow! Glad you're not seriously hurt.
Looks like front took a good hit.. and the cabin sustained less damage. That kind of hit can definitely crush the cabin more and you could have seriously injured your legs, or worse.
Wow, both you and the car took quite a beating, but I'm glad to see you're okay. I read who started the thread and my heart skipped a beat, thinking it was the alpine! Glad you're okay, hope you get it all sorted out with insurance/bringing the truck driver to justice.
And for reference, a bakkie is a small truck with a tray on the back, right? We call them utes here!

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Damn. Glad you're okay...
Also... nice aim! right down the middle.
Seriously though, glad you're in one piece.
I didn't get much sleep last night, still in alot of pain. My face is quite swollen this morning and Im talking funny too. Fortunately my neck and back are fine, its my chest which is most painful, bruised ribs hurt like a muthafucker! Im going to see a specialist on friday for my facial injuries.
I can only breathe through my right nostril and its whissling, I feel like Jim Carrey in "Me, Myself and Irene"
No-one got details of the truck, it kept going. It had a Maroon cab and a white/cream double trailer, I posted it on my local forums for guys to keep an eye out for it.
One of my close friends visited me last night and she now calls me George Of The Jungle.

Dang man glad your doing ok. Hate to see a bimmer go down but im glad it was not your alpine white beauty.
