M5 Rep Polypropelyne Bumper $150

Can this be true? http://www.ddmtuning.com/e36bumpers.html
Scroll down to the bottom. I followed through to the checkout part and shipping is only $19.40 to Austin. The whole bumper for $214.50.

Does anyone know how the fitment is on these, and are they from the same manufacturer as the ebay pp ones?

I don't even have my 5 yet and I want to buy this now. So who's going to be the guinea pig and test out the fitments on these things? I'll be getting my 5 in week / two weeks. Sounds like first mod to me.

This car has been widely praised in all aspects; many say it is the best BMW in the world. Consumer Reports gave the 2001 530i its highest car rating ever. The diesel engines available in the European models provide great torque and smoothness with better economy. The M5 has been called "the ultimate in discreet speed" with 369 lb·ft (500 N·m) of torque and a 0–60 mph time of 5.2 s. The only downside was its smallish cabin and trunk space of 11.1 ft³ (314 L)
The very first E39 BMW 5 Series rolled off the assembly line on June 18, 1996.

I just ordered a front bumper on the AMEX. The red text about shipping on that page is a little unsettling, as if they can tack on additional shipping charge to up their margin. If that happens, I'll cancel and sic AMEX on them to get a full refund.

Just like anything else, unless it's a geniune where it holds the value; the price must come down for all 3rd party replicas as what a typical market trends; there will be more competitions which cause the price to come down to the reasonable level like this one.

I'm hoping someday, the price of these replica bumpers come down to the point where all e39 owners have them on their bimmers

Wow. I may buy a rear for that price.

Be careful of the shipping though. The site says that a small shipping charge will be added on checkout but that you'll be contact about the real shipping price.

"Our bumpers exactly match the OEM bumpers in every detail. Mounting points and fitment are guaranteed perfect."

One can only hope. If this pans out, I will be considering it myself.

ahh the fine print. I almost pulled the trigger on the rear bumper impulsively last night, but then I thought about the fact that I know paint is going to be 200+, I need a muffler (200-500 bucks), that puts it at over 700 bucks when all is done. Don't need it that bad.

Surprise shipping charges piss me off. I'd never buy from a place that did not have an exact shipping price displayed, that's asking to get ripped off.

Ditto. I'm not thrilled about that kind of stuff either.

I already cut off my muffler and love the sound. I'm still thinking of purchasing the rear bumper so I can do a muffler. I'm not cutting my stock bumper. I'll leave it cut for now.

How is your rebuild coming along? (Sorry. Shouldn't hijack the thread)

Jared
