* Keep in mind that it's from a ZF car, not that there's any difference (that I know of...)
No difference that I know of.
Lowell, I know that this will be asked, and I didn't when I bought it, how many miles are on the parts? Thanks, you were great to deal with.
Herbert.

Not sure of mileage, but I do know the timeframe. It was installed in ~ December of 05 and the car was wrecked in July or August of 06, maybe earlier...
so this one will work with the m50 and zf310 in my proposed 5 spd swap?
Good working unit, or will it need a new clutch disc, resurfacing etc?
Estimated Shipping to 79925?
Lemme know
what difference is there between this flywheel and the stock one?
I mean practically, because even if it's lighter I never knew what difference this makes...
Lowell - Thanks for the input.
AE - Good working unit. Weight will be about 30lbs, and I'll use the US Postal Service - so about $25, I will be shipping a steering wheel out tomorrow hopefully and have a better idea about shipping.
Monastie - This is stock.

I'll take it...
PM me your paypal and I'll get you the $100 tonight, and let me know if shipping runs more, if so I'll send the difference.
I cna change the disc later on a lot easier than I can convince the wife to let me buy all new disc and PP right now.
Yes the wife must bless everything, but sometimes it is easier if the foot is already in the door.
hjscranton@hotmail.com and I'll ship it tomorrow.

ah, you must be married as well...
payment sent. Sorry for the delay...
Was getting a jumpstart on Christmas shopping today and it set off red flags w/ the CC company... unusual activity.
Hey, AE, didn't know you were planning a swap. That'll be sweet, you'll have quite a unique Touring.
1986 BMW 735i Turbo, 5-speed
2010 Mazda5
1966 Corvair Sedan
I wasn't planning it.
I was forced into doing it by complete trans. failure last wednesday.
Yours and shrike's swap threads have been re-read several times now.

Well consider this a present to yourself, and to add to the festivities - all the "From: - To:" stickers at the post office were holiday ones.
My wife is kind enough to let me have two toys that detract from her time, so she must love me.

Lemme know what else you need and if a touring driveshaft will work.. There should still be a ZF tranny and manual stuff in a local salvage yard.
If you want to call him and talk to him about that stuff I'd help get it shipped etc. You could also tell him I'd pull the remaining parts off the car.
I know the tranny is out though because I bought the motor out of the car Im thinking about.
He may also have another 92 5 spd with a ZF..
Avenue Auto Wrecking in Kansas City.. Google them, they've got a website, and talk to Wren.. Tell him Brady with the e34's told you to call him.
srsly though.. he takes plastic too..
i've found a complete zf310 drivetrain thru a bf.c member and it is almost ready to ship, but I thank you very much for your kind offer.
just need to get a new slave, soft line, and shift lever, CSB, maybe new guibo, and other assorted wear items.
The local BMW dealer is I'm certain looking forward to recieving my list, but they support my passion and appreciate my knowledge and preparedness with great deals, superior over the counter service, and drop everything shop service when I roll in for an appointment or with an issue (rare but it does happen).
After all 'The Touring' is a rolling testament to quality, class, and durability for BMW on the street and at events they hold (ultimate drive, etc).
Awesome!
I'd go with a braided stainless line and a Z3 shifter or something similar instead of stock stuff though.
damn that so sounded like a paid testimonial...
no i don't work for bmw... they don't give a discount as good as what i get now...
no ss line for 525s like there is for the 530/540, already researched that.
z3/e46 ix model is the shortest throw from what I have read, but exactly HOW short is the throw?

herb, it arrived about 4 minutes ago... poor mailman.
In ebay language: item as described, nicely packed and cushioned, fast shipping... A+++
Poor mailman...I'd expect the DHL person will be in need of a beer or 6 this Tuesday
Did you catch the post on the PND321 lights?

AE,
Thanks, I was hoping it would arrive today.
I am in limbo about what shifter to use, z3 1.9l or z8, there is a pic of most shifters available all lined up together, give me a minute I'll find it and get back....

yes I did.
OT: I'm still tempted to try discoing the EGS for Shh and giggles just to see what happens when the computer is completely gone. just need to figure out the starter relay location you were refering to.
I hate to leave the TCU in the car doing squat. Especially when they have value to other people.
EDIT: cool find Xmon... now if someone had the shifter length etc for the oem shifter you could easily pick a ratio that would be sprty or comfortable enough o match your personal preference.
I'll measure the OEM 525 one when it arrives tuesday/wed. if no one comes up with the numbers before then.
The z3 1.9 is sounding a bit short for my personal Cruising tastes ( plus my wife has VERY limited experience driving 5 speed), so i think the z8 (25111434527) sounds more reasonable... But I sure would love to try that z3-2.8 with the 4:1 ratio just once!

EGS is the Elektronisch Getriebe System or Electronic Automatic Gearbox
The jumpers were long gone in both of the 5spd cars I looked at this past week.
I'm debating wiring the clutch switch into the starter relay on the touring to keep people from starting it in gear. Mainly for the dealer techs and others who were used to driving the car as an automatic.

Pics... I wish the z8 was pictured, because BMW Nashville doesn't have one for me to compare. I have read good things about the z8 shifter and have the z3 1.9l shifter in my e30 - it's great, short but not too short, and the height of it is perfect for transferring from wheel to lever and back. My indecision is because I want the shorter (height, in cabin) of the two.
The z3 M would have the shortest throw.

I've never seen that lower pic Herb (with the iX shifter in it).
I've got the Z3 in the iXes as well as M20 powered E34 and have been quite pleased with it in both. With the fact that I have relatively proportionate legs and arms, it puts the lever right where I want it.
AE I'd measure my stock e34 shifter, but I had to cut the top off of the one for my swap because someone had a getto knob on the top which I couldn't figure out to go get out before I realized that Mr. Sawzall needed a workout.
