BSW Stage 1 Testing with Pictures and Review

Midranges were released a couple of days ago. Well the response was huge as seen in the below post. People wanted the whole kit. So we give what the people want

    http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=839026

    Front Midrange Replacement:

Test CD was Heart's Greatest hits. Mainly listened to Magic Man. Very dynamic song and really get to hear everything!

We tested with just the Midrange upgrade and balanced and faded everything to the front right where the new midrange was. Faded it over to the driver side.... Ears start to hurt Boy that stock audio system is NOT GOOD! Fade it back and we have positive results! Sounds GREAT! Very dynamic, very rich and smooth!

    Front Tweeter Replacement:

Same Test CD and same results but better! This car, if you so choose, can be dramatically increased in the sound quality department with just the midrange and tweeter upgrade! Install took ~20 minutes! 100% plug and play!

    Front Midbass Upgrade:

Another positive result! Same Test CD. Front midbass response CAN be improved with a simply plug and play speaker upgrade. We actually used the Rainbow Audio Soundline's that they make for us for our other stage 1's. Sounds Amazing! Fading it back and forth from left to right between our speakers and stock is night and day difference!

More updates to come with Group Buy details, intro sale and instructions for install!!!

Sweet. LMK when the tweeter part comes out for the door. I'll but the tweeters and dash speakers when they come out.

We will have intro pricing in lieu of a group buy since we will have everything in stock. No one likes waiting for a group buy to come about. Just good pricing and quick shipping

That is ready to go. 99 intro price on the midrange. 89 for the tweeter upgrade Plus tax for you unless you have a summer home or another billing address

Sounds like you are planning on amping?

If so we would do something different for you. No midranges. Front component set and proper crossover. We actually are not leaving the stage 1 "as is" in the customers car as there may be a stealth subwoofer in the pipe line for this car Stay Tuned

Yeah Hall there are a bunchof us running either headunits direct for 2x more power or just plain amping the shhhht out of the stock nokias... I have an 80x4 rms amp (instead of the OEM weak sauce 20w PEAK amp) feeding the factory passive array and oem nokias> also wondering about how much these things are rated for.

Once we get it all sorted out I will give answers to all these questions. Relative though you will be in the 40-50W RMS range...

Customer is picking up the car tonight for the weekend. I am sure he can report his findings on the full stage 1

We will have it back again for the subwoofer install.

Keep me posted on the complete kit please!

I put in a Eclipse head unit a couple years ago and it REALLY change the sound in the car, BUT I know with a great set of speakers it would be 1000% better.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm music!!!!
OMG I cant even begin to describe how insane these speakers are!!!
My last system was in a Ford Contour that was worth more than the car
to give you some idea... i think i spent 1500 dollars on that system at employee pricing!! so it was about 2500 dollars woth of equipment dynomated the entire car, amped interior speakers custom installed 3 way coaxial set really nice head unit... DOESNT COMPARE!!! not even close
I am a audiphile...well as much as my budget will let me, and these speakers have impressed the hell out of me!
The cabin on the E34 is a perfect soundstage that comes alive with good speakers. Its extremely quiet and has no vibrations, its the perfect size to be filled with good music.
Crystal clear highs can be heard at all volumes whether its delicate chimes of a drum drum kit or the killer vocals of Anne and nancy Wilson from HEART.(they rock my world)

The midrange on these drivers is amazing most people dont realize how important a good midrange is on a speaker until you hear what you have been missing , the intracicies of a 12 string classical guitar are heard clear, electirs guitars come alive and Stevie ray Vaughn sounds like he is sitting in the car with you!!!
Lows are reproduced very accurately with the help of some pretty massive drivers and are quite responsive even just being pushed by the stock BMW amp,I was extremely impressed over and over again last night as I heard things I had never even heard before with the stock speakers.
My best friend got in the car last night and gave me the nod of appoval(he works for Magnolia HI-FI so he knows his shit) and said he was very suprised how good they sounded.
To sum up all my rambling these speakers are Incredible, THEY WILL MAKE YOUR EARS BLEED!!! it is one of the best system I have heard in a long time.

I worked for HI-FI buys for a while and best buy for 5 years so I think I am a pretty good judge
So BSW(Halston,Jason) congrats on A+ Job designing and putting this ststem together.

    All stock !
I am very anal about the illumination matching the amber glow of the rest of the cars interior and have yet to find a head unit that i am SATISFIED with enough to buy it
Also the reason I have yet to, until now instal speakers in the car is that
no company on the market that I know of sell replacement speakers for the car that require no modification( I have been looking for a year since i bought the car)
HI-FI carries a bunch but they are all fake "3 way" which means that there is a seperate tweeter and mid but no low range.
BSW replaces the whole system tweeter, mid and low! [EDIT] am going to LE Mans and wont be back till after 11 pm :-D

Wow. I'd be interested in doing this if I could find a way to hook my Zune up to the radio, and possibly a changer I guess.

What does the whole kit cost?

I too purchased BSW's mid range speakers and installed them yesterday - the swap was simple and the sound - fantastic! I'm running stock speakers and amp with my only upgrade being a CD43 business CD HU. I'm so impressed that I will purchase all of the other speakers as soon as they're available. All I have to say is don't wait to purchase and thanks BSW!

Pricing is not set yet. It will be similar to our e36 3 series Stage 1 with is 499. They use mostly the same speaker types and sizes.

Thank you for the review Nathan! We enjoyed it also! Have fun at Petite. Was watching it on Speed. Hoping for rain because it makes it more fun to watch

Kevin. Shoot me a PM we can prolly get your order placed since you have the Midranges and get everything out to you
