Z3 (E36/7, E36/8) (1996 - 2002) In 1996 BMW added the Z3 to the lineup. First available only with the 1.9 liter engine, the Z3 went on to carry every 6 cylinder produced between 1996 and 2002. A fun, sporty little 2 seater came both in convertible and coupe form. Being a bit of a “parts bin” car, the Z3 is part E30, part E36, but all original.

FS: M Coupe Sub Boxes

Finally finished building these things. I sent a few pms out to people who had expressed interest earlier, so it looks like a few might have sold.

Basically, I made 10, not sure if I'll ever make more, but if I do, the price will go up.

Right now its set at 350+ shipping.

Box features:

-.55 cubic feet of airspace
-CNC cut flush mount ring, made out of double layered 3/4'' mdf
-90% Factory match carpet
-Preloaded with polyfill
-Comes with easy to connect wiring terminal with subwoofer wire already soldered in
-Designed with Elemental Designs 11kv.2 and 11ov.2 in mind, unsure of other subwoofers that will fit
------Kv.2
------Ov.2

Other subs that should work properly in the box:

Image Dynamics IDQ 10 v2
Image Dynamics ID10 v3
Hertz ES 250

As far as fitment, optimal fitment with the factory trunk liner, still good fitment without

If you have any questions feel free to post here or send me a private message

The trim panel on top holds it in, it's a 5 minute procedure to pop it in and out, and when I say 5 minutes, I mean 5 minutes tops, so access to the bulbs is not a big deal.

how does the coupe handle all the power you are pushing through your amp to all your speakers and sub? Did you have to install a cap?

It actually handles it very well, but I do have a pretty new battery. Very slight dimming when it is being played full blast at idle, but I never really come across that situation in the real world

I think i am the only one with this box so far.

Few notes:

It WILL fit a non-M (with some modification)

Box is very secure in there, doesn't move even during really really tight cornering.

Box is VERY easy to remove if you need to get to the bults. It's just one screw with the top panel.

No rattles or anything

Sound is great, many have heard it.

Looks great

Uhhh, cowbell factor is fantastic

well i figure any sub that has the same mount depth would fit...

but i gather you think the elemental is the best decision for the given factors???

i wanna buy one ahead of time, but not 100% sure if the funds for the coupe are comming next year or not

either way, AWESOME looking product

There are a few things you need to check if you want to see if another sub will fit, mounting depth, if its around the ov.2 you should be fine, airspace, self explanatory, and also the cutout and outside diameter, which is probably the most important.

I chose the ED subs for a few reasons, excellent performance per dollar, they work well in small boxes, and they let me offer two subs of different performance levels for the same box

understandable.... dont see why you wouldnt want the better one.... its barely a price difference, unless people are too cheap to buy an adaquate amp to drive it...

Ms have the compressor on the right side there, so it's already cut out.

Non Ms have the carpeting go all the way back and have 2 small metal plates welded to the wheel well to hold up the carpet.

I had to cut out the carpets and remove the two metal pieces.

Gary, do you have pics of what you had done to your carpet? Given the fact that the sub box has to be removed to gain access to the bulbs, I'm trying to figure out what to do with the carpet that flips open to gain access to the battery and tools without removing the sub box.

Dom, any ideas?

I'm thinking of cutting it.
