The m52 project has been thrown out the window and a new setup has been started. I bought an M50 Non-vanos engine on 9-11-07 and so far have cleaned it up. This week i plan to paint the block, valve cover, replace all hoses, convert the cars wiring harness to OBDI from OBDII for the install to work.
Some info on the swap. Estimated Completion date 10-13-07
4/97 318ti OBDII
4/92 M50 Non-vanos OBDI
DONE Reusing stock ti transmission and driveshaft. Stainless steel UUC clutch line will be installed. Rear end has the stock 3.45 Open diff, will be replaced with a 3.46LSD if not 3.73LSD.
DONE Car will be converted from OBDII to OBDI so most emissions will be striped from the vehicle, wiring harness will be cut and rewired properly to accept the M50 and run it properly. Once converted the car will not be able to be take to emissions testing, but our state doesnt do them so its ok for now.
DONE Exhaust - M52 headers, 2.25" true duals, 2 resonators, 2 mufflers.
DONE Brakes - ///M3 brakes installed, new pads and rotors in the rear.
Suspension - ///M3 H&R Race/Intrax springs with 328 sport struts and Mcoupe shock.
DONE Rims - Wheels will be Mille Miglia MM-2, 17x8 all around.

Based on weight to power my ET 1/4 is in the mid to high 14's. With a new 3.46LSD, chip, exhaust, and intake, im sure mid to low 14s is obtainable.

Can I ask why non-vanos? vanos adds much needed torque to the m50

Price was good and I really dont think it would matter since its going into a TI shell. Besides, its one less thing to deal with down the line. Ill also be turboing it this summer so there isnt a need for it.

u know someone has to ask....why the nismo muffler? i doubt you will be replicating the sound of a Z car...

I doubt it will sound the same, but the nismo or stock 350 muffler is nice sounding as well as the setup im looking for as far as the dual outlet goes.

Yea, im going to cut the originaly bumper, but once i get the sport rear bumper, i hope to just be able to cut the diffuse and have it still look nice.
