X3, X5 & X6 (E53, E70, E71, E83) (2000 - current) BMW invented a new word when they introduced their SUVs to the world: Sport Activity Vehicle. Sportier and with more car like agility than the standard SUV, with all of the hauling perks for a more active lifestyle. Introduced in 1996, the X5 continues to be a hit. The younger sibling, the X3, was born in 2003.

Who carries X5 products?

My friend is interested in...

Wheels (Hamann, ACS, Hartge...)

Exhaust (Supersprint...who else makes X5 exhaust?)

Suspension (Wants to lower it)

Clears (he doesn't have sports package)

Intake

Auto Software (Dinan??)

THanks.

Unfortunately, only Dinan seems to carry any performance stuff for the X5. They have intake, software, tranny software and even supercharger for it. I know H&R makes springs for the X5, but not sure who makes struts/shocks for the truck.

The coolest upgrade for me would be the SMG wheel hooked up to the auto tranny.

What about a 6 speed manual swap from an E39?

Why would your buddy want it lowered? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having an SUV in the first place?

As if an X5 has much offroad potential anyway

Don't try to justify SUV's, they have no real purpose.

Well, I certainly wouldn't disagree with that...

But most people who buy SUVs list sitting up high as one of the reasons they buy one. Strikes me as a little odd to lower it.. given that you'll essentially end up with a $60,000 Toyota Matrix.

BMW put a V12 6.0 LMR motor into an X5 a few years ago. Thing made 680 hp and lapped the 'Ring in under 8 minutes... IN THE RAIN.
