Just got a call from my shop saying that one of my hardly used bilstein shocks snapped...He didnt say what or how just that it snapped and that I would call him back. Im going to go check it out. Any 411?
You bought these used?
Probably a front. Are the co's or struts? Adjustable at the top like Konis?
I have no idea what snapped means unless they broke the internal mechanism.
I've seen the rods snap on shocks and struts, it's usually just the threaded portion at the top and is usually from installer error during installation when using air tools.

Turns out the threaded portion was teh faulty part. However the crack was old, the metal in the crack wasnt bright and shiny like a new one. How can I take this up with Ebay?
Those shocks are pretty cheap, just buy a replacement.

Did you have them shipped to the installer?
It's more likely the installer broke it and made it look an old crack. 20 miles is not going to show much age unless they were left on the car for months.
Can you take a pic of the stem and post it?
How much did you pay for them?
450 for all four corners. The guy is honest, he even offered for all the labor to be free. And told me if he knew they were used he would have not tried (guy under him did it). However the metal was old looking and there was a bit of new metal showing.
The also sat in my room for a few months before installing that is probably why the metal got that way.
