'05 545i/6 vs '02 Maxima w/ bolt-ons

Maxima's bolt-on's are headers/2.5" full-exhaust/intake/tune. At 140, you can see the 545i's Autobahn heritage come through.

Also, RWD launches FTW.

For comparison, here's that same Maxima vs a 2004 Mustang GT (auto):

That Maxima is quick to say the least...And what about that G37 behind the 545i? It passed that Maxima as well.

If you crash at 120 I dont think you want to see what you look like afterwards.

That was a g35 sedan....you can tell be the nose not being so long. Plus the G37 isn't very common yet.

Maximas top out at 140. Not much of a fight above their limiter. LOL

For another comparison, here's my daily-driver Maxima: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qPlAE1Ij4A

Mods are intake and cat-back exhaust, as listed in the vid. I have ran a stock 745i in that car, and was ahead by 1.5 cars up to 120, although he might've pulled me if we had gone further. I never posted it in here, as I can only imagine the uproar without video proof.

that whoosing is probaly form his intake. if he has a pop charger they make the whoosing noise. i had one installed onmy g35 for a little while, and it sounded sort of like a turbo.

Here's the thread on maxima forum.

And it tops out around 145, tested by car and driver. Sorry.

We have to watch Altimas too. Bolt on 3.5 SEs and SE-Rs are just as fast.

This is why I specifically mentioned "indicated". I don't know of any GPS-verified top-speeds, so that is all I can attest to. I have never taken my DD that far, but in my vid, I certainly had more to go when my speedo hit 140. Notice after I hesitated just before 140, and I decided to step on it again for a sec, and the speedo resumes climbing.

Don't forget, the C&D test was also on a stock car. A modified car will have at least a bit more pull, and if it is lowered, likely slightly less drag.

I bet with those mods he coulda gone faster, then, seeing as it is drag limited not governed as I originally thought. I raced an '02 Max once, and held back so I was even with him till ~140 just to see if he would top out ... and he did. Must have been stock.

I used to have a 4th gen maxima... and trust me they are pretty fast cars, and have a lot of potential. The VQ engine is one of the best engines out there IMO.

My brother had an 03 6spd maxima with an intake. It was definitely a quick car with a comfy interior and sleek yet low profile demeanor. Thought about buying it from him when he had to get a truck, but decided fwd is FTL. Would have loved to run that car if I had gotten my m3 a little sooner, I'm sure it would be close. 03 was the best year for maximas IMO, 02 had 10 less hp which isnt much, but didn't look half as good. Problem is only about 1 in a 100 03 maximas came with the 6spd

Here's the thread on maxima forum.
LOL, there's a guy in that thread who has a brand new Maxima with probably thousands in mods, and he's only running a 14.25. I don't call that particularly quick.

The car and driver article says they are drag limited at 145 ... so they got it wrong?
