It's been a while since I have posted anything on my build so I starting a new build thread. I will have the rest of my parts by Wednesday and then the motor should be back together by Thursday night.
Friday I should have the motor back in the car and running by Friday night.

I should meet it so long as nothing goes wrong ::Fingers crossed::
I even took off work Thursday and Friday to finish the build.
The hardest part about a time crunch is remembering all the small details, I will still take my time with this and make sure it's assembled correctly.
The reason for the hurry is Im taking summer classes starting the 9th and will be working 8am-5pm and school 6pm-10pm so I wont have much time for working on cars.

Good luck to you! How much do you have left on the engine?
looks good. I'm anxious to see how the stock hg/studs combo treats you after some miles.
Reigning and Longest Tenured OT President to Date
I gapped the Wiseco rings tonight. I just have to wait for my rods to get in tomorrow and then I will be installing the pistons, Head, oil pan, and wiring harness and then I will basically be ready to drop it in the car.

Your build is VERY similar to mine, except I used AEM for engine management and a built M50 non-vanos stroked to 2.9 for the engine.

Prick-Behind-the-wheel Upgrade
Nice! I have noticed a few people with similar setups lately.
Yup! Thanks for the Tec3r
I haven't decided what to run daily, probably about 15lbs.
Me either, I will be posting it sometime next week if all goes to plan.
Yeah I can't wait to line up with you either it should be a fun run.
Well last night when gapping the rings I did on about .01" to big on one of the bottom rings, those bottom compression rings file down fast.
I wasn't sure last night what I was going to do about it but I decided I want to make sure it's perfect since it's not easy to replace them later on. I called up wiseco this morning and have a new set of rings coming in the mail overnight so there wont be a delay.

Nice looking build.
nice build!
what did you end up gapping your rings at?
looking very good good luck
I got the engine assembled today, it was a long day..
I was supposed to get my extra set of rings at 10:30 am but they didnt show up until around 7pm. So I did what I could without rings during the mean time. Then I took a nap at around 4 so I could stay up late and work on it.
So today I got my new hardware from the BMW dealer, Installed rods and pistons, installed all of the bottom end including the oil pan and pump ect... Then I installed the head, did the VANOS timing and cam timing, and installed the valve cover.
All I need to do tomorrow is install the tranny, flywheel and clutch, and the wiring harness and then it will be ready to go into the car.
I will post pictures when I go back to work on monday.
EDIT: Does anyone have a base map I could use for my Tec3? If you don't have the exact same setup thats fine so long as its for a Tec3r with a 3 bar map.

A little update.
I got the car running, everything has gone pretty smoothly so far.
I had to create a Tec3r map from scratch to get it running correctly, I have put about 400 miles on it so far I'm enjoying every mile . The car feels great on my base map and 8psi.
Thanks alot to Michel Mcoy ( techno550 ) for helping explain to me how to get the base map started and many other questions I had for him.
Thanks to Jacob ( def ) for spending several hours on sunday creating me a timing map and teaching me how to change my fuel trims to get the car to run correctly.
Also a big thanks to
Kurt (paradigmguy)
Rich (rrdawho?)
David (ebydrc)
They all helped me with my many questions I had and kept me motivated to getting the project finished.
Also VIC has given me lots of help with the Tec3r unit, he is currently converting it to full sequential for me.
And of course a big thanks to Bimmerforums.com I couldn't have done it without you guys . I am rocking my bimmerforums.com stickers in the back windows.
Once I get that back I will create a much better map and finish breaking it in. Then once that Is done I will be taking it to the dyno for a final tune by Jacob and to see what kind of power its putting down.
I will put up some pics of the build once I get them loaded onto my work pc and when I am done I will be sure to make videos.
I can't believe how much attention this car gets with the 3" exhaust and the Tial 50mm. You hear it spool and take off and people look at it like its an NHRA car on its way to the strip.
