Ok, a couple of us from another forum are going to make a quick trip up to Deal's Gap in July.
Tentatively, I'm bringing my 325is E36, Richard will bring his MR2 again or maybe a new toy if he buys it, Mapless will probably be on his Ducati 999 again, and hopefully a couple other guys will bring Miatas up. That's all guys from SomethingAwful.com Automotive Insanity forum, and we'd like some Bimmerforums guys to join us as well.I've talked to TooLShack, and we're going to make a quick run up to Deal's Gap/Tail of the Dragon/US-129 in mid-July.
We go during the week to avoid the rolling roadblocks that are Harley riders and the general riff-raff that is around on the weekends, so this is a Monday/Tuesday run. We'll get an idea if anyone else is coming, and make accommodations accordingly, but I plan on arriving Monday morning, staying Monday night, and leaving Tuesday evening. Others may want to come up for the weekend and stay over.
If you think you can make it around that time, this is the thread. Bikes, cars, all welcome. I'll be taking the "track rat" 325is on its maiden voyage through the Gap, and TooLShack will have either his MR2 or Miata. Sportbikes are welcome to join, we won't try to race you or anything. We do our thing, you do yours. I'd like for somebody to show up in a Miata as I've never had the chance to drive one.

Post up if you think you can come up.

I'm in with my Black M3 if in town. Mon/Tues is a great idea for a gap trip.

ooo, it will be the first the bimmer has ever seen of the dragon's tail if i'm able to come up then! I love taking the sport bike up there, but sadly I don't make it that way too often.
i'll try to free my calender up for sure.
I'm going for sure.....
Looking like several of you will try to make it; that's great! I hope we can put a lot of BMWs out on the hill and have a fun, safe Ultimate Driving Experience.
As we get closer to July I'll post some more details like where we can meet, eat, etc.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it but you should post it up on our club board to let our members know. We had 20+ cars at our last Dragon drive so I know there is a lot of interest.

Thanks; I'll post there.
Our chapter forum (www.albmwcca.org) is pretty dead.
Interested for sure....never gotten over to the dragon.
What time will you guys be getting started Tuesday morning? I may just drive up for the Tues runs.
Thanks

Probably early Tuesday. We'll probably be most active a couple hours before and after lunch. Probably definitely try to grab lunch at noon-ish at the store there and support the local economy. Good time to sit and make fun of the Harley crowd too, and wait for most of them to get out of the way.
I'll try and post what channel we'll be using on FRS radios, but if you get up there, check the Overlook and then the store. You should see us at one of those two spots, or meet us on the road eventually.
Sorry if I'm not being more specific; this is a vacation for me, and I'm not going to be assed to follow any sort of strict schedule. We're all pretty laid back anyway.

Looks like a lot of our people are out of town that weekend, I'll still keep talking it up though. If I can get out I'll be there.

Go to www.killboy.com -- I'm sure Darryl and crew got several of you guys, especially since you made the front page. You can order copies of the pictures; please do some business with them if you can -- they're great guys.
I'm leaving now to go up to Deal's Gap. So far its 4-5 of us from another forum - an MR2, a Miata, my BMW, and a Honda, and probably a GSX-R600. Need more Roundels to show up. We'll be meeting at the gas station/store on the NC side of the gap around 10-11am Monday. Look for that red MR2 in the OP and my black E36 325is.
