Bump, any updates?
anything on this???
yeah, any updates nick?
OK guys, sorry for the delayed update, but we've been working hard to get this kit ready to go. Below are some of the latest dyno results using the production downpipe/exhaust and some tweaking of the VANOS timing on the dyno.
For the record, the system will include the following for an exhaust system configuration (exactly how it was dynoed in the included graph):
- 3" downpipe
- external wastegate
- single 3" in, dual outlet catalytic converter
- mates up to the factory rear resonator and muffler
- dynorun009 = stock cam positions
- dynorun024 = tweaked cam positions
Next up we will be installing a free-flow 3" turbo exhaust system just to test the capability of the kit on a stock engine (and proving how restrictive the stock exhaust/muffler is). Of course, we'll be redynoing and tweaking for that setup too, to have available for those customers that choose to go that route.
Pricing for the kit will be $6900 plus S&H. The first kits to be rolled out will be for the 2001-2002 E46 330 5-spd cars. If you're interested in getting onto the waiting list, shoot me an email at nick@techniquetuning.com

Will the kit be available for the 2003-2005 330i ZHP's?
Sorry if I missed it earlier in the thread, but will you guys be building this kit to work with a 2.8 M52TU?
Thanks for the update Nick. Will you be making these available for 325's? MS43 and/or MS45?
Hey Cam. From everything I've learned during my journey, the additional tq on the automatic will increase heat which expedites wear and eventually causes failure. Eliminate the heat and eliminate the failure. Tranny oil coolers should prolong life. Transmission services like Level 10 offer valve body recalibration that firms shifts. The firmer the shift reduces slip which creates heat and therefore wear.
hi Nick,
was wondering if you received the PM and email i sent about availability of a Z4 turbo kit?
thanks
sweet, thanks for hte price bump, 6900 bucks for the kit. Would you be able to summarise all that is being included? And somne of the specs on some of the parts if you are able to at this time? What brand name/sizing intercooler + piping, types of bov's available, what turbo and at what boost should we expect to run at (and can run at down the road with maybe a thicker headgasket?), t-bolt clamps? clutch? any gauges?
vid please.....
can the kit be transfered onto a 323?
Hopefully this will be out when I'm in the market for my 330Ci...
any updates with a free flowing 3" exhaust?
i can't wait. i will be interested in a price for a 323i. Great job.
Looking forward to the ZHP kit......just when I said to myself buy a ZHP and not an M so that you can avoid the "mod bug".

Yes, we did test with a free-flow exhaust. Below is a graph of the before and after.
dynorun_024 = 3" downpipe, cat provided with kit, stock resonator, stock muffler
dynorun_001 = 3" downpipe, no cat, 3" pipe all the way to rear muffler, free-flow rear muffer
The results were somewhat surprising, but in a good way. At the 8.5psi setting, the free-flow exhaust only picked up 12rwhp, and the entire torque curve shifted up. The noise factor increased dramatically though; it was no longer BMW-like. Thus, adding an off-road exhaust isn't going to get you much added power, as the stock system and kit included catalytic converter are good flowing units.
At the lower boost level of 6psi, power actually went up a bit over 20rwhp, hitting the 300rwhp level at it's peak. This indicates that we're starting to hit a flow restriction somewhere in the setup (since there was less power gain at the higher boost level). It could be the intake manifold, the cylinder head exhaust ports, the turbine housing, or something else. Future testing will let us know.
But man....you gotta love that torque curve.....I mean line

For comparison's sake, here's a graph of the stock setup vs. the turbo kit w/off-road exhaust.

Nice, I know where I will getting my next turbo kit from... Thanks
Great work as always Nick! Better get these turbo kits built, the waiting list is going to be long.
