I finally found a decent throttle cable for the E12 throttle body that works perfectly, it only cost $25 at autozone. I had to modify things slightly to get it to fit, but it was an easy install. I also notice a little bit more power at the top end.
Here's a pic of my temporary weld job to get my too short stock cable to hook on to the e12 throttle body. It got the car on the road and drivable but it was preventing me from getting WOT:
Here's a comparison of the end fittings for the firewall, I couldn't believe how close they were:
Here's the stock gas pedal hook/lever:
and after grinding a little to fit in the new cable end:
Here's the 2 cables side by side:
And here it is installed, I slipped a piece of rubber hose over the housing to protect my shock tower from abrasion:

Every time I see you engine bay I get jealous at how clean it is. Simpley awesome job!
how'd you get the part off to file it? i don't see how to get it out of there.
What part? The stock throttle lever under the dash? a couple snap rings and it should come out, I don't remember more than that. It wasn't hard.
Wow! That looks amazing! Thats also some really nice welding on the strut brace too. Perfect bead. Good job on the entire engine bay dude! It looks gorgeous!
Kudos x2!
thanks for the partial, i'ma run your print through avis. Hopefully you are wanted for questioning which will lead to the necessity of you selling me your car for bail......
haha...jk....top 3 e21 in the states imo....
amazing, im in awe... such a nice engine bay. really creative too. good job josh
Not only is that a nice install, but the braided cable just adds a little more flash to that killer engine bay. I think I need to detail the crap out of mine this year. It looks like hell compared to yours.

how did you remove the cable?
He's probably looking for a car, considering that there was no 318is built prior to 1989, and even those were only for Europe.
Cable removal is easy enough, you just need to get in there, disconnect it from everything, thread it out. Getting it all back threaded through is the part that's a little harder.
