debut: Lance Armstrong Foundation e46 M3 Race Car built by evosport

Hey gang,

I know we have a few car builds on the pages of this forum, but I wanted to share one more.

Charity Motorsports Group (CMG) commissioned evosport late last year to build an e46 M3 HP car for the Lance Armstrong Foundation to run in BMW Club Racing. The goal was to raise awareness for the cause and have a great time doing it. We are very proud to be part of this project.

I wanted to share some pics of the car fresh from paint.

Now we have 24 hours to get it COMPLETE for its debut at Laguna! Nothing like pressure!

Thanks
brad

Brad,

Awesome project. I meet Lance in 1996 while he was at the IU. Med center here in Indianapolis. He was in the room next to my Dad who was being treated for cancer. They had the same Dr. He is Dr. Einhorn. He is one of the best in the world. I talked with Lance many times while he was being treated. A really nice guy. At the time not many people really knew who he was. Unfortunetly my Dad wasn't as fortunate as Lance and didn't beat his cancer, though he gave it a run for it's money. I have donated money to the Livestrong Foundation ever since it was started. I have worn the same bracelet since 2002. Never been off my wrist. It reminds me of Lance, but most of all my Dad. Best of luck with your project, look forward to seeing it kick some but.

Livestong, Scott B.

That yellow paint lends itself to making it a "signature" car, where everyone who donates and knows the car can sign it and show their support. Its a great way to get everyone together and be part of the car for its lifespan.

Also, I see its running toyo Ra-1's, looks like it should get some fantastic exposure!

Blurb: http://www.justracing.com/features/2...sports_program

"Toyo Tires Sponsors CMG Race Team to Support The Lance Armstrong Foundation

Cypress, CA – (April 2, 2007) Toyo Tire (USA) Corporation is the official tire technology partner of Charity Motorsports Group, Inc. (CMG) for the 2007 BMW Car Club of America (CCA) road racing season. As a partner, Toyo will provide their high performance Proxes RA1™ D.O.T.-legal competition tire for CMG’s e46 BMW M3 race car.

CMG is campaigning the BMW e46 M3 in BMW CCA competition for 2007. The goal of this campaign is to use motor sports as a “spring-board” to raise awareness and money for cancer research, specifically the efforts of The Lance Armstrong Foundation (The LAF). CMG is in its first year of partnership with The LAF and has a goal of raising $100,000 dollars for the foundation to assist in research and medical care for those affected by cancer.

“Throughout my racing career I have always been amazed at the amount of money that companies and fans will pour into supporting a particular driver/team/commercial product. At the same time I have always wondered why none of these entities use this same vehicle to help those in need. This is why I created CMG. Partnering with The LAF for this seemed only natural as many have been touched and inspired in Lance’s story and automatically think of him when the word cancer survivor in mentioned and we all know how successful The LAF has been in helping other cancer patients.

We are excited to have Toyo as a premier partner for 2007! Toyo is a recognized leader in tire technology and we used their RA1 on our e36 M3 last year with great success. Obviously we cannot be more pleased to have Toyo on board for 2007. Organizations like Toyo recognize what we are trying to accomplish at CMG and have stepped up to do their part. We truly appreciate their help.” – Aaron Nichols, Founder of CMG, Inc.

“We are happy to support Charity Motorsports Group and their goal of raising funds and awareness for a cause as worthy as The Lance Armstrong Foundation,” said Steve Hutchinson, senior director of sales and marketing for Toyo. “We wish Aaron Nichols much success this year in competition.”

CMG plans to mainly race in the BMW CCA’s Golden Gate Chapter events for 2007 with some possible appearances at California enduros that are yet to be determined and the 25 hours of Thunderhill. A full race schedule for CMG can be found here - http://www.charitymotorsports.org/racing.htm."

Yes - too busy. No procrastination, it took a long time for CMG to get all the legal crap out of the way (the bureaucracy is insane - one reason why i do not practice law with my JD). Once we got the GO - it was cage, paint and that process ended today!

That is a very touching story. Sorry about your dad, but thanks for sharing. I have lost 2 grandparents to cancer and have an in-law fighting now. My partners also have been impacted with direct family. We are all really touched to have been asked to be a part of this!

Thanks!
Brad

Brad,
I am touched on many levels. As an avid road cyclist / amateur racer I have followed the LA story through all of his TDF wins and beyond. My mother is currently fighting ovarian cancer so it is very dear to me especially now. When the car is completed I am willing to help out anyway that I can.

Thanks for all the support!!!!

Hi all...this is Aaron, founder and driver for the #888 CMG/Lance Armstrong M3. I am seriously touched and choked up over the feedback and support here! Steve J's coment really encapulates part of why I created CMG. We want people at the track to think of The LAF and all the people they help, their political fight for cancer funding, and all that is LAF each and every time they see our car raced or displayed. Hopefully that will spur folks to go to our site, read about our goals, and donate to help us reach those goals and make a difference! This is close to my heart and like many have also stated here, cancer has affected me and my friends and family. It is an epidemic we simply cannot ignore.

All of our sponsors have stepped up BIG and I cannot thank them enough but most of all...Brad and the guys at Evosport!! I am amazed at the work they have done and it stirs me inside to know they are working so hard to help me realize a dream. Thanks Brad! I cannot wait to see you guys this weekend...rain or shine. It is going to be a great start to a super race season.

For anyone that has any suggestions or ideas on how to help spread the word of CMG or just to offer encouragement...please feel free to contact me. i'd love to hear from you.

LIVESTRONG!

Aaron Nichols

Our sponsors - Evosport, Rotora, Sparco, Vorsteiner, Powerchip, Toyo Tires!

PS - scottbm3, I have worn the same LIVESTRONG bracelet now for 4+ years as well. It never comes off my wrist except for when my 10 month old daughter wants to play with it

Just about. We set out to be the leader in that chassis and until the new M3 is out - we are always developing this chassis!

Aaron,

Are either of your raffles still going on? I saw the car was listed for sale, so I guess it isn't going still. What about the brakes? That seems like a great idea to me since I'd think a lot of people would be interested in a set of brembo brakes.

Yes the Brembo raffle is still active. We are getting close to the required amount of entries so if you know anyone that wants in....have them go here - http://www.charitymotorsports.org/RaffleBrakes.htm.

The race car raffle did not get many entries so I just decided to put the car up for sale. If anyone is interested, a portion of this will go to LAF as well, although not as much as I had planned had we been able to raffle it

Cheers,
Aaron

Great cause, so I just donated, but shouldn't it be a set of Rotoras since they're a sponsor? Either way, keep up the efforts!

Hope to see the car out at Laguna Seca this weekend.

You should sneak that car on with the other Evosport cars.

Also donated/joined the raffle. I've got a Livestrong band that I wear in honor of a friend that survived and in memory of an aunt that didn't.

I do want to offer a Rotora kit but began this event w/ the Brembo before we partnered with Rotora. I think I will email all those that hav entered thus far to see if they mind me switching this to a Rotora kit.

Do it.

When I win, I'd rather have something a bit smaller than that giant Brembo kit.
