    S50 version 3.0 take 2

k so here we go again. rebuild part deuce.

after the last motor fiasco this time im not taking any chances. and well this time the whole motor is basically replaced.

new S50 short block and crank with everything replaced. i mean everything

same head but everything in the head is being replaced except cams

once this motor is put together new top mount will be ordered and i still have my t3/67mm turbo with the P trim wheel i wil be swaping out housing to T4 housing and getting turbo rebuilt to hold over until later when the GT40R can be afforded.

    short block

    CP 8:5:1 86.5mm pistons
    Eagle H Beam ESP rods
    ARP Rod bolts
    ARP Main bolts
    ARP Head bolts
    Bearings main and rod
    new oil pump
    all new gaskets and seals

crank, rods and pistons balanced together

    Cylinder head

    Supertech 1mm oversized valves
    Supertech Dual valve springs
    Supertech Titanium retainers
    Supertech spring seats
    Supertech Valve keepers

    High performance Valve guides
    all new valve stem seals

    MLS Cometic .065 Headgasket

and got some pictures of some of the new parts as well.

Block only 65k miles on it

    Pistons and rods

    Valve train stuff

    UPDATED PROGRESS MORE PIX.

Yes. just picked up the block and head from the machine shop.

    everything looks great
i had asked for the head to be resurfaced to 50RA per Cometic suggestion and machine shop guy said thats still too rough and resurfaced to 14 RA.

i was advised that the smoother the surface of the head the beter chance that when the head slides back and forth on the headgasket that it wont tear or rip the headgasket and that made a lot of sense to me.

Block was bored, honed and hot tanked.

head was stripped of all parts and cut for the 1mmoversized valves and had the dual valve springs and titanium retainers and spring seats installed with hi performance valve guides and new valve stem seals.

help raise compression a little. i wanted 9:1 CP pistons but was 5 week order for custom pistons. so .065 gasket and deck the block a little to raise cmopression as well.

i want close to 9:1 as i can get.

higher compression more power on less boost with proper tuning.. higher compression helps spool up turbo as well.

I dunno wat type of power u looking for, but you said ur future turbo is a gt40. eagle rods will not do any justice for that turbo, especially if you are looking for 650±. With all of the goodies you bought you could of invested an additonal 700 and got ur self some pauter rods. At least then you don't have to take apart your head again.

For my build I went with the wisecos 8.5:1 87mm bore. w/ pauter rods

thats great. apparently a lot of people like to pay 1500+ for rods. Eagle rods have been proven to 800whp i dont think ill have any problems.

especially since stock s50/52 rods have been take past the 600+rwhp mark.

there are a lot of honda guys using eagle h beam rods on 700+hp levels with no issues.

i guess i could say the same thing about the wisecos you went with? since almost everyone here gets CP pistons to make big HP??

$1350 to be exact :> good luck with the eagles and with the build. Definetly have the potential hardware to make serious hp.

I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with Eagle Rods. But I am saying that just because it works on a Honda, or any other car manufacturer, does not mean that it works on a Bimmer. A perfect example of that is SPEC, they work great on other cars, but a lot of people have problems with them on Bimmers.

where do people get this illusion that a bmw isnt a car the reason spec has had issues is because they are running underrated clutches h-beam rods in the h22 and sr20det 2jzgte are all the same design as the m based motors the rods length and pin dia change thats all.

edit - and on top of that, psi doesnt harm rods in the normal scenerio is vibration and pressure or just vibration.
