Bimmer143 and other HELP! brake noise

I hear a crumph kinda like ABS engaging when I use moderate pressure on the brakes randomly. It sounds like the ABS is engaging on the drivers side. I check the suspension and everything seems solid. Any Idea here? They will lock up and ABS will engage if I load the pedal, if I use it lightly it will also sound normal, it seems to be the most prevalent when I press moderately and then lightly left off. I know you have a shop and was wondering if this is something you might have an idea on.

A crumpa sound....HMM.....I'm having trouble trying to picture what your saying. Are you getting an ABS light?? I'd check the caliper mounting points, and pads. You may just have some debris stuck in your pads, its happened to me before. Is it a crunching sound??

no more of a THUMP, like ABS is engaging. I have no lights. THe pads LOOK good. I have done brakes many times except I dont feel like freezing trying to put in brakes that might not be the problem.

I wouldn't go freezing my butt off either, it just seems like something may be loose. Can you feel it at the pedal or in the steering wheel??

I can only hear it. Nothing in the pedal or wheel. If I was deaf I would never know
