S/C E36 M3 vs. Miata.....yup, thats right.

I should start by saying that I was driving the Miata and I picked the fight, so I asked for it. I was driving down 64E merging onto 95N and found myself behind a black e36 M3 that I know the owner and the owner's brother, but they didnt know I owned a Miata...perfect.

I suck up behind the M3 and I hear him downshift to 3rd awaiting us merging onto 95. I do the same and swing out a lane. As soon as I punch it around 70mph my car spins the tires, kicks the rear out, I gain traction and I soon blast past this M3 that was going for all it's worth. We go at it a few times, each time I leave him for dead.

Eventually the driver (mad skillz on here) gets next to me and notices its me and I just smile. I got home and already had a PM on here asking me about the Miata. Gotta say, it was very fun.

Oh, and you'll are probably all wondering the same question, so here goes nothing...

Sorry Phil! Had to. And if it makes you feel better, this lil' gay Miata also beat a Supra Twin Turbo, and a Cobb Tuning Stage 3 Sti earlier that day. Guess it's time for him to go to Stage 4.

It's a 5.0 based motor, sure. But it's not 302c.i. anymore.

That is what I want to know. What is the right price and where can someone get one?

I have 2 options at hand. Either continue the Supercharging thoughts for the Z3 or sell the Z3 and get this Miata.

Autocrossing will be so much more fun with either.

Thanks m3chaser. Phil, lets play when it has the new combo! Thats if I dont sell it to Ahmed303..heh.

Ahmed303, I'll shoot you a PM later today with some info. I'm at work right now and kind of busy. I can tell you right now, there is probably no way in hell to make a supercharged Z3 as fun as this Miata. I'm at a C6 Z06 power to weight ratio right now, and I'm not done making horsepower. Hell, you could throw a Novi 2000 on this and make reliabble 525rwhp all day long. But thats bordering on suicide.

PM me with some info too, Miatas like this are something I'd like to know more about, the concept of one sounds actually budgetable for someone like me over time and it would sure haul too.

You can build a V8 Miata in your garage without any welding or fabrication for roughly the same price of a nice E36 M3 (maybe not as nice or fast as Floda's, but a nice base to build on). Check out Panache at http://www.v8miata.com. The kit to bolt in a V8 is $4K. If you think that's expensive keep in mind that the kit includes an aluminum radiator and custom headers among other things, which aren't cheap items, plus some labor (they modify your Miata subframe for you). Awesome cars, lots of fun!

Floda, love the monster. Back in the day I wanted one of these so badly I could taste it. I even bought a 91 red/black top for my wife thinking someday it would be mine to do with as I pleased...muhuhahaha. I ended up selling it, but one day I will have one. Maybe with a Vortech just for giggles.

Love the plate too...gives them something to figure out while they're behind you trying to understand wtf just happened.

I would guess you are running a 302 punched out to 347 with trickflow intake and heads. I had the same manifold on my 91 gt.. except it was silver. Are you making around 350whp with that setup?

Oh thats just fantastic, that miata must be a riot. Fastest car I have ever ridden in is a stripped 95 5.0 with a stroked 302 (347) Huge cam, heads, intake.. the works. i dont know all the details, but he had a nitrous spec cam for a 200shot. he heated the tires up and gave me a full blast 0-100mph. Ohhhhh lordie. he was short shifting and i swear 0-100 was like six seconds.
