Magic Mender leather repair kit on Dove Grey results *a lot more pics!!*

    Before :

    After :

    For a 1st try, I'm satisfied.

I did both front seats and the ass-part of the backseat (although this needs some more work).

Looks great. Dove grey sucks when it comes to wear as we all know. Too bad you can't get new stripes for the seats.

i didnt show here the thread. I was just pokin around on the net and found it. Im an idiot! My last car was a gutted MK3 GTi vr6 with sparco seats. She hated that car so now she relates having seats to having a really loud car that is very uncomfortable.

Next time i got to the track ill make sure she slides around in the leather in the M3... then she'll want seats just to feel safer.

No difference at all. The dye actually becomes like a flexible latex when dried, so it doesn't crack or anything.

Can you post the steps of the process? Did you sand the leather at all? Thanks!

I can speak for Lexol. Pretty good cleaner, but it doesnt do anything like what is shown here that magic mender does.... But then again, lexol is not a repair kit. its only cleaner and conditioner.

for general info.. the stuff is kinda spendy... $50.
the good news is that they actually have a kits specifically designed for the different bmw interior colors. e.g. you can actually select a bmw dove gray color.

Hey OP, did you use the Fine Mist Sprayer (an extra $3).

    thanks for the tip...

    Installed :

See the difference between the seat bottom (which has been done) and the back (which hasn't).

i plan to order this stuff as well. The dove grey really does suck for wear.... my seats at 50k mi looked worse than the black vaders in my 147k-mi previous 95 M3. I I have a question about this though... since the dove grey requires constant cleaning (I use lexol as well), will this stuff clean up ok when it's time to get all the dirt off after a year? And what on earth would you use as a detergent at that point? I get the idea that the real leather will now be covered by whatever this paint stuff is.

    It's not paint, it's dye.

Using Lexol isn't supposed to remove it.

Has anyone ever used this stuff for Modena color seats? I am having the hardest time finding a company that makes that color in a leather repair kit.

    Any help is appreciated.

    thanks

In the pics, it is obvious that some of the Dove grey dye leaked onto the darker grey on the doors. Do you have any idea how you would go about getting that out?

Other than that, that interior looks perfect.

If you are talking about that thing next to the HK speaker, it's not that.

If you're talking under where the handle should be, you are correct. Also, yes, and the «end» od the pass door, it leaked under the masking tape.

Rubbing alcohol makes it fragile, and then your fingernail quickly rubs it away. I suspect that nail polish remover would also work.
