    e46 interior into an e36??

i want to fit e46 m3 front and rear seats into my 96 328 convertible, i think the fronts will go in with a little work but not sure about the rears, has anyone done this yet??
what is the difference in the width of the e46 m3 coupe seats compared to the e36 items in the convertible.
the seata i want are also electric and heated, is this reasonably easy to wire in?

I've seen the front seats fit in. Im not sure what kind of fabrication had to be done, if any. Rears might be rough. Do some searching in Bimmer Rides & Styling.

The rear seats wont even come close. Especially if ones a coupe and ones a vert.

Front seats are Recaro styles. You could buy them brand new from Recaro. I don't know if you would need any fabrication to make M3 seats fit, but by buying them from Recaro (for not much more than the M3 seats sell for used) you could save some hassle.

found out the fronts fit if you open the mount holes slightly , rears require floor fabrication and then reshaping of the seat itself .
i have a full e46 m3 coupe red heated and electric leather interior on its way hopefully so i will be fitting this to my 328 vert in the next few months

a guy in the UK (and also on here jon m3 something..) is also having a go. front door cards need cutting on front and rear edge, and then retrimming, same with pretty much all in the back.
see what fits in, cut what you have to, then retrim the "damage"

Why would putting an e46 interior into an e36 be anymore pointless then putting clear corners on a us spec e36?

i would have to disagree. having an e46 means that he knows beyond a reasonable doubt that he prefers that interior.

i have spoken to jon about his conversion, the amount of mods he is doing to his car at the moment will delay the interior conversion a little but it does look good and is the inspiration i use, looked at those pics for along time whilst bidding for the interior .
he was very helpfull towards this conversion but did warn me how much work is involved for the rears.
his car will be very unique when finished.
    as for pointless!
    whats pointless about modifications?
changing my seats is no more pointless than changing the brakes to e46 spec, or adding m3 parts to a non m3.the aim is to improve or enhance what i already have or trying to create something exclusive or original

Good idea, but I'm a little beyond all this e46 interiour talk. Has anyone done the LazyBoy front seat mod yet?

Really though, go for it! Sounds and looks clean. Can't wait to sit back and look at the pics of the final done deal.

I am bringing this thread back to life with a question: Has anyone tried mounting the E46 rear seats from a limousine into an E36 limousine? Do they fit?

I understand from reading the posts in this thread that the front seats is no problem at all, but it would have been nice to have the back seats similar to the front ones
