First, thanks so much to Jay (Multiplex) for lending me the lift time once again and letting me borrow his bandsaw! We managed to make my exhaust in about < 2hrs. Its 3.0" mandrel bends welded straight no cat to a dynomax 3" in 3" out muffler with a quick and easy stainless steel 3.0" tip. We fabbed the mounts for the muffler custom and the mounts to the underbody custom. Works great. Not the QUIETEST setup out there, but compared to an open down pipe, its great! Car drives from idle much better and feels like it has more power (clutch slips sooner haha). I can now hear the open wastegate light up and the tial valve much better. Thanks again Jay!
Thinkin about doing a 3.5" tip, but for now its fine.
How's the smell? I think twin tips would look proper on that rear bumper.

The problem is 3.0" inlet to dual tips is kind of a big package to fit. I dunno, I like the single tip look. Its a subtle hint that shit ain't stock
This is what the "exhaust" looked like beforehand. I dunno if you can see the soot down the under body of the car, but yeah.
And the open wastegate:
Also in the above picture you can see my brace I made to the engine block

i was amazed by how fast we knocked this thing out, and it looks pretty killer.
too bad we didn't snap a pic before pulling it off the lift.
not exactly quiet in my book, but it sounds awesome!
Glad to hear that you finally got an exhaust on that beast!
Satisfaction isn't around the corner, it is the corner.
The exhaust note on it is nice now. I can still hear you halfway across campus though.
Video or ban.

Heh, that looks pretty sweet Jon! I like the single 3" tip, one of my turbo Volvo friends has that look and it works for me. Video, please? Just one question, why didn't you tie the waste gate back into the exhaust?
There may be some added benefit to straightenign out your wastegate piping a bit more. It will flow easier, or at least make the turns less radical. Although the piping doesnt lok bad maybe you could cut off that last curve and just make it straight out? Just a suggestion.

I think I may do just that. That part was sort of my friends idea - I am just cut it off for a straight dump there yeah.
As to why its not tied into the exhaust - I dont want it to be I like it loud when I am on peak boost plus it lets me know my WG is working hehe.
Supposedly you get more HP dumping it but thats just myth.
that little turndown is there because 2" from it is a thing called a radiatior, and they prob don't like getting hot exhaust spewed all over them.
Lets see some 1/4 times and trap speeds w/ slicks!!
Or a dyno!!
Once you are clutched I would vote you should dyno it, I would really like to see what a STOCK M50 can do. Do you have dyno days in your area, we have them every 1-2 months where you get 3 pulls for $35 w/ AFR... Multiple shops do this, there was one Monday that was even on the radio. I would have gone for a baseline (My last baseline included no torque - At least it became free!) but my car is torn down for interior maintenance
I know - I hear you, but the truth is, is it worth doing a clutch when I will probably be pulling the engine out over winter break? Eh - I am not so sure. I still have to decide on a damned clutch to go with!
If I was closer I would help you with the clutch job (Read, do most of it for you) to ensure it happened. I would really really like to see stock numbers. That had been my goal, but my plans have changed a bit. Stock won't mean reliable, and I need reliable when I'm away in school, ~1300miles away from my garage.
What clutches are you considering currently?
Cheap ones. As far as reliable - this car starts every time I need it to. It then rips peoples faces off and goes back out back of my school. Reliable
Yep
