Just kidding about the part nine...
So yeah, I was thinking - $250 for a freaking wideband LCD AFR gauge, or maybe something better...
That's called MegaView - may not look like much to some people, but its pretty f'ing sweet. I finished building it this afternoon and got home and got it going. It scrolls all the informatoin across the VFD. Yes, VFD.. not LCD... this is a vacuum flourescent screen - aka VERY bright and legible! You can read the lettering from well past the back seat, very clear. I am going to make a little panel there in front of the shifter and mount a button. This can be paused at anytime to monitor one variable or more, plus if you want, you can use 2 buttons as increment, decrement to actually tune your VE table etc on the go. Crrraaaaaaaaaaaazy.
I like it.
About 1/2 the cost of a wideband gauge
Thats sweet. Carputer FTW...

Looks pretty kewl. I cant wait to add a carputer with a lcd screen like yours in that picture(that is a touch screen rite?).
One question, why not use megatune on your carputer instead of that MegaView?
I do use megatune on the car pc - but the thing is, its hard to switch between applications - like if I want my music up and then I want to monitor the engine. Also, I don't like having megatune open when there are passengers in the car for obvious reasons - my gf knows not to touch but my friends are idiots.
Oh alright i understand that. That is a sick in car setup you got, I hope to have a very similar setup in my e34 soon. Congrats on your Megasquirting success too.
thx
you fab some pretty sick shit bud
very sweet! but I hope you can loose the huge usb cable, that thing belongs on a printer not in a car!.
Looking good.

Its a 7" lilliput touch screen and the surround is totally custom I molded it in there, I had to cut the heat control circuit board in half and modify the traces
There were originally 3 dials and 3 sliders, I had to modify it all.
very nice work!! you are the truest DIY'er i've seen here!!! Keep it up...

So this thing only reads in voltage?
Nope. It cycles through things like AFR, voltage, IAT, and so on. Pretty much anything the MS can see, the MegaView will display. If you add oil temp and pressure to the MS, I am pretty sure you can have it cycle through to show those as well. Even allows you to pause it at certain readings and can even tune VE tables on the go.

wow, you have a PC onboard! You should use it to run MS and tune from there!
I'm in doubt if buy the MegaView or not yet, keep me from buying it's the size, bit tiny I think.

Here's a decent color-matching screen if anyone still wants to go for the amber/red bit:
Just need to use a HD44780 compatible controller.
Diego, it is probably possible to hook up a bigger screen.
