The hardest part about making this thread is definitly finding a place to start. My entire experience with this kit has been nothing short or amazing. Everything from watching it in development a year ago in SLC to the first drive has been jaw dropping. Yes, there was a wait, but nothing I cannot handle to have an increasingly evolving kit. Josh is a perfectionist and truly loves everything about this kit and its development, and it definitly shows. Every piece of this kit is always threatened by natural selection under the eye of the creator; any piece could become extinct at anytime and replaced by something better. It is ever evolving in a motion towards absolute perfection. Which, for someone like me, is hard to say since the kit already is perfection in my eyes.
The Install:
Yes, my previous digression was leading somewhere. This perfection has led to a Twin Screw Kit that installs as easily as a cold air intake. The kit and install manual is literally like replacing OE parts. Hell, half of the kit has a BMW stamp on it. There were absolutly no short cuts in the quality of parts. Not to mention anyone can have Josh at their beck and call with a simple ring. He was never hesitiant to answer any questions (no matter how stupid) at almost anytime of the day. For these reasons the install was a blast and was actually a little disappointed when I was done, but not for long...
The Glory
Key in the on position, I allowed the fuel pump to recharge and fill the line. One key turn, and the thing fired up with no recolection of being down for three weeks. There was not much time for a maiden drive of a spirted nature because I had to drive it 200 miles immediately back to school. That is the trust I had in the kit, one key turn and then 200 miles, and it did it without a hitch (well a small random deceleration stall once, but...). I driving out of my neighborhood I jammed it in second and had to stick my head out the window the see the color of my hood to make sure I did not hop into my dad's Dinan S2 3.45 rear end M5 on accident. Literally amazing. V8 motor perfection. Torque all over. A forth gear pull from about 3k RPM has the umph that my car used to have at 4k RPM in 3rd gear. Kiss 1st good bye because the tires will only toast the pavement.
Well tonight I also had the car dynoed and my roommate followed me in his new '98 M3. On the way back we had to have a little fun. He would be about 100 yards behind me and downshift and jam it. I could just sit and wait until he got to my rear bumper and without a downshift we would be nose to nose and then I would begin the walk. Jaw dropping speed.
The Dyno
I need a small write up before the dyno to explain a few things. The power was right with Neil's car. I hit 355 HP and 291 TRQ
The first impressive part of this fact: The dyno I was on, I have dynoed consistantly 10-15 HP less and 8-12 TRQ less than on other dynoes. I have proof of previous dynoes where I hit 265 HP and 245 TRQ NA and then went to this dyno and hit ~250 HP and ~235 TRQ. It consistantly dynos lower. So on my other dyno I could be at ~370 HP and ~300 TRQ, but that is just a slight disclaimer.
The real shocker
Because of my headers and open exhaust (lack of back pressure), I am only hitting 6 psi max boost, yet I am achieving the power of the 9 psi kit. Let's just say a smaller pulley is already in the works.
I was worried my numbers would be low since I was only getting 6 psi, but am more than satisfied with what I got. I can only imagine my car with the kit rated 9 psi.
Here is the graph and pictures will come after a good ole car wash:

thats totally tough. nice dyno #s thanks for the write up.
Yep..you still suck..lol Want to trade for my turbo setup? Nah, didn't think so..

Nice. Great impressions I love them. Funny about accidentally getting into your dads M5. SO how long did the install take? Did you need any unusual tools or anything? Did your dad drive it, what did he have to say about the kit and all?
You need to first off get some footage of that thing . Then you need to race your dads M5 . Lastly get some footage of you against a TT Stage 1 M3 .
We need more pics of the final project.

Not sure about time exactly becuase it was to streached out. I had about 4-5 shipments of parts over three weeks since Josh was still developing. I would say a good 15-20 hours though.
Nope, very basic tools. The only pain was getting the cap thing off the fuel pump housing.
He has not driven it or had a ride in it since I had to get out of dodge so fast, but he will do both this weekend.

thats nice
but, your AFRs don't have room for more boost without more fuel it doesnt look like - so even though your absolute pressure is reading low (try another gauge) the engine appears to be flowing it appropriately. Smaller pulley = new chip?
holy crap nice numbers!!!
what sthe mileage on your car.. and what year is it? i think the cam kit really help out the ES kit vs the AA kit.. i wish they allowed for the use of a cam kit with their kit..
-M3J0N
first off congrats!!! i'm still getting used to boost, but it is so much fun getting acclimated . did you have to get a different tune based on the cams being in there or does the regular software compensate? although the AFRs look a little bit lean, those power curves are things of beauty, especially since you have traditionally gotten low numbers . anyway enough reading, go drive it!!!
Wow...I'm very impressed. 6psi? That's alot of torque @ 2500rpms too...

SWEEET! I expect to be in mine in the next day or so, but will need to be a little gingerly at first due to the new clutch that also went in at the same time.
I will make a little video of it and post pitcures on a different thread. One thought was taking a friend with me on the trip up to pick her up (my TS installer is about 45 miles away via wide open highway posted 70 mph) in my other ride (Audi RS6), then making a short clip of them against each other on the way back - we'll see how fast it really is.....Understanding the Audi is a bi-turbo V8 with insane tq, I dont expect the M3 to beat it, but it will be interesting to say the least.... OTOH, the new clutch might put a damper on that idea.....
Thomas - Great write up! It reiterates my impression of working with Josh and Eurosport. When companies and products have cult followings like this, there's usually a reason....

Sounds like some good ideas to me. Just dont bang the gears or launch the car and you should be fine. I think the TS M3 should be pretty fair game for an RS6, no? With 350-360whp that makes for over 400hp at the crank and the M3 is lighter then the RS6. It should be a interesting run.SWEEET! First off....NICE. Gotta love a kit that runs correctly right out of the box!
That is an assumption on your part and an incorrect one. It's not wise to make comments about a system that you're unfamiliar with.
No Glenn, the AFRs actually look just fine and within an acceptable range.Originally Posted by wushucivic

I have tried two different gauges, both on the A-pillar mount. I might attach one directly to the vac. port and run it through the window just to make sure the line is not pinching anywhere. It should not be since I get good vac. readings. I am also a little skechy about more boost with the AFRs. The guy at the dyno was insistant that they were too lean as is (but he was a slight know-it-all). Josh says he has seen the kits range from 11.9:1 to 12.9:1, mine is obviously at the upper end. He said I would probably be alright for another pound or two of boost. So, in the end, I am not exactly positive what I am going to do with tuning and more boost.
I am right at 80k with a '99.
I am not sure on the tune with cams vs. non cams, but I can ask Josh.
