Hey guys, today I spent most of my day at a charity car show with my friend who is helping a ton with the build, but later we decided to start and finish my intercooler piping We made each side one pipe, so from the compressor housing to the inlet on IC is one pipe all mandrel bent and welded, and then from the outlet of IC allt he way up to the throttle body is one pipe. Painted flat aluminum now, but will be powdercoated either green silver or gold havent decided.
What do you guys think?
In all the car will use 4 silicones. 2 at the IC, one at compressor housing, and one at TB
Sick pipes!!! Get her done!!!

Where's the piping from the turbo to IC?

On the ground. Its not as exciting, single pipe but its basically a big "staple" shaped pipe with a hook on the end.
Thats what im talking about.....Why pay for extra silicone if you dont need them....Originally Posted by UrineMachine

Plus I will have less to put back on if they blow off
Are you going to roll a bead on the end?

yep
Given the rest of the fab work you have done I assumed so, just making sure .Originally Posted by UrineMachine

Vote "Green with Gold dollar signs" for the pipe paint.
Those might crack, doesn't look like there was much penatration on the welds. Looks like they are laid on top on the piping. Fluxcore? No offense entended.
Although being IC piping its not as likely to matter.
Very nice design though. 2.5"? Definelty nice not to have a bunch of silicon couplers. When ther pop it sucks.
Its MIG welded sir and there is MUCH penetration. These will not "crack". Fluxcore? haha.Originally Posted by terrybpp
Then you just suck at pooling, especially if that is MIG.Originally Posted by UrineMachine

You can't tell shit after I've painted over the welds wtf.
Take it easy. Just some joking with implied constructive critisism. Check out some of my old welds on here, 10x worse.

I wouldn't make such a big deal about the number of silicon couplers. If you have a good bead on the end of your intercooler pipes and use quality clamps and couplers, they're really not that bad.
Will it be a PITA to install these pipes given that they are 1 piece?? If not, then I agree with minimizing the number of silicon couplers. If it makes installation/removal difficult, then I would lean more towards more couplings.
thanks for the pics, I love to see people fabing their own stuff...
not just the matter of blowing them off, its just kinda stupid to waste money on tons of silicone elbows and whatnot.. no matter how much you spend on them, they still look cheep.
and no way are those mig welds above. (volk manifold)
OOpps, you are correct sir. Those are TIG.
Removed.
How much would you charge to do the intercooler piping for mine? I am ready to begin my project
I bet it was much easier with two people...Mine were a pita to make..I used only four pieces of silicone too..Blew two off..forgot to tighten them all the way..
I vote black for the stockish look.
looks good..

If you can take it apart you can make it faster!
The piping may have been easier with two people, but what was not easy was getting a damned intercooler to fit this car
