I finally decided to post up about my project in this forum as it is in full swing now. Car is a 1988 E30 M3 that I blew up at the track Easter 2005. Then it was a 2.3 litre stock motor. Great fun, but I wanted more. Thought long and hard about rebuild NA but as every man and his dog has done it, I decided to go FI route. I had to fight a few demons, both mine and others, in relation to going turbo on such a classic car, but in the end, its what I wanted. I know of only one other in Australia, and that’s a race car in my state. Perhaps Kenny may know of any in Sydney? Hopefully it should come together in the next 2 months..................hopefully.

Sounds like it's coming together!
I'm confused as to the fuel setup, your using one 044 pump but are running a surge tank? no twin pumps?
Should be a track weapon!
Ben the S14 already has 2 pumps. I am simply replacing the main one with the 044.

Great list. Post a picture of the e30 M3 (and e34m5 for my own viewing pleasure). Your cars are both very beautiful.

Step it up and pick up a GT35R turbo. It would be incredible on your setup. By the way gorgeous car!

Sick! I'd go with the GT35R too, and a 38mm wastegate. Regardless, sick as heck, can't wait to see the build pictures and end result
I know a gt35 builds boost decently quickly, but on a high revving 2.5, worldn't a GT30R be perfect?
Not really sure where it will end up. I am new to this so I dare not try and guess a figure. Up until now I have only ever had NA cars. Maybe those with more knowledge could give that estimation.Originally Posted by VelocityM3

I really want it to work well on the track though. So I will stick with the smaller one for the time being.Originally Posted by Julz69

Here is a small video of it prior to the motor going south. It is still a 2.3 stock motor at this stage. Its one and only trip to the 1/4 mile. It was a charity day organised to help raise money for children with cancer. I suspect my next trip back maybe a tad quicker.......just maybe.

A couple nice little packages today from Topend Performance. Excellent to deal with.
Cometic MLS 1.8mm Head Gasket, ARP Head studs and my Custom 95mm JE pistons. 8.1:1 CR, ceramic coated crowns and moly coated skirtks. I am expecting the 2.5 litre Motorsport crank from Fedex tomorrow.
cheers

Looks great. With a build like that, I would fabricate an equal length split-pulse manifold and use a gt35R with ATP turbo's t3 divided exhaust housing in .78 A/R(www.atpturbo.com). If not, just use the regular .63 A/R exhaust housing.
Beautiful car!

I might go with the 0.63 A/R housing as well if you want as wide a powerband as possible, but if you're really zinging it up to the 7500-7700 RPM range then you might want to keep the big housing to let it really breathe up there.
The 30R should be good for a solid 400rwhp at the track on a reasonable amount of boost, and 500rwhp when you really turn up the wick(but I wouldn't try/want to track it at that powerlevel).
Well after a few weeks wait and quite a few dollars later, my crank finally arrived from Germany via Florida. Thanks to Don at McADAMS AUTOSPORT. I cannot recommend Don highly enough to do business with if you are after anything BMW. Cant complain the way it was packaged though. Packed like a true car nut, in a nice new Coleman Cooler. The Fedex guy couldnt help but laugh with me when I told him what was in it and the trouble Don had gone to get it here.
So only waiting on Turbo and few other bits and pieces and off to the engine builder it goes.
Cheers
