WTB: Performance header for an e36 318

As stated....I have my engine out about to be put into a shell thats not smashed.....and I'd like to put a new header on now while everything is pulled. It just seems like it would be so much easier to do this now as opposed to when the engine is in the bay and all installed.

    Thanks

My dyno charts show a 10 whp gain over a similar DASC setup M42 after I installed equal-length headers.

Wait, I don't see the dyno sheet with stock exhaust manifold- is it posted??

To be worth anything, your dyno runs would have to be done with the stock manifold and then with your headers- no other changes.

Stock M42 exhaust manifolds are about as good as they get in terms of flow. If you experienced a 10hp gain with headers alone- I'd like to see it.

No, this was compared to a friend's baseline dyno when he just installed his DASC (he's gone to 11 psi since, piggyback, several other mods)... don't have it online, sorry.

Sure. Is your TI DASC'd? Do you have a baseline dyno?

Running everything bone stock, 100% CARB legal. Eaton M62 s/c unit here, and the additional FPR DA supplies in their kit. Absolutely no tuning, stock ECU, etc... just the header, still have stock cat/resonator/muffler.

After, I boosted my 318... I REALLY want to turbo my 535i. People are putting down 400whp and 350 wtq on 11 or 12 psi intercooled, stock internals...

So what I seem to continue to hear is it's not worth it to tune an m42? I do have the option of picking up a cheap 6cyl from a 92 535, maybe it would be better to leave my m42 stock and just start building the 6. What is a 92 535i, m50? How are these engines?

Only way to get power out of an M42 is gonna be boost. Otherwise, sell the car, and buy a 6-cyl.

You're getting an m44 head or a 6cyl off of ebay?
