being a Motorsport Utility Truck, and being a goofy hybrid, I think the name "Mut" would have been more apropriate.
Isnt the tern "ute" used by car magazine journalists in an attempt to make the word SUV look cute? I would not have considered an el camino an SUV, so it seems like a misnomer.
I love the project though, as I am also a big fan of the sil camino that competes in d1.

In Australia, Utes are basically El Caminos...Holden makes them, as does Ford and others I'm sure...It's not some term used for them like SUV's here, they are considered "Ute's" there.
Very cool though...any more pics of it?

Yeah utes are real popular here, and that's a ute for sure. Odd idea, but it's definitely unique...
i'd like to see a u.s publication use this kind of terminology. hahahaha shows how uptight the u.s can be sometimes....to help the Kraut V8...
interesting car... wouldn't be my choice, but it's interesting.

Great link to that photo album. Yeah I would never do that to an M5. Looks like those guys do some good work though.
looks too weird imho
Sorry... the server is too busy to fulfill your request. Please try again later.
Stuart is a really cool guy to talk to and has some really cool ideas for this project. He's discussed it at some length on some M5 boards. Very neat stuff.
That link to the slide show was awesome. It's amazing how much work goes into creating something totally diffrent to what you would expect. I cant wait to see the finished product.
One question though, was it nessecery to chop the car in half just to add 6 inches in length? Was it so that one could fit 2 meter long lumber planks in the bed?
I would never buy that
Jeez, they really went to town on that thing. What surprizes me the most is that they used an actual M5, and not a 520i or something cheaper, and THEN converted it. I guess there is probably a reason, and the goal here doesn't seem to be price efficiency. It looks like they are doing very high quality work, and I applaud them for that. I just think 22" wheels will be too large.
i think its kinda cool - mainly coz itll come out properly done..
