New 2002 540i6 owner here. Posting here because I could not find the "Introduction thread" that the message at the top of the screenw as referring to. Maybe that is due to the fact that its been a looooong day. If its here, I apologize in advance. Anyway, love my car so far. Silver/black, all the neat M5 goodies it came with. So far I've just been lurking around here (bumping over from corner-carvers.com) attempting to learn as much as I can about my new toy. Keep up the great tech and info, gentleman.

The gold 528i in the picture below was my first E39.




It was a 1999 528i. At 38k mi the the transmission blew up and ABS mod went out. Plus I always liked my brother's 540i better (the silver one above)

Just went out and got me a 2000 540i/6 speed with dinan intake stage 2 software, exhaust annd the guy before me installed the 01 Nav unit in it.. oh yeah and 01' headlights and 19" wheels... Love it

since my original post on 8/24/06^^^ alot has changed with the 530. I switched out the rims for some staggered 18" M-pars from www.thewheelexchange.com. heres a pic:

and the major change with the 530 is that its no longer with us. on 5/10/07 I totalled it while driving back to my apartment from my parents house. I was on the highway going around 80-90mph when it randomly swerved (I think a rear tire blew) which caused me to loose control and slide sideways into the woods, hitting more than a few trees. I literally walked away from the accident that night, thanks to amazing german engineering and a little bit of luck here are a couple of pics:
