Which wire do I tap?
-thanx very much guys
Scott
i tapped one of the wires in the bundle in the lower section of the picture... ive heard one of the purple/white wires works and one doesnt, but dont know if there is any truth to this as it worked on the first one i tried. and make sure its grounded properly. mine didnt seem to work until it was grounded securly... i fished the ground wire over to one of the screws that holds the drivers side sun visor to the roof. it was a little tight but it works great for me and i did the whole install myself in about 30 minutes.
Yea I dunno if this screw that holds the motor on works or not... =(
Yeah I've tried to hardwire my V1 a few times and just end up getting frustrated and giving up. I will have to try it this way now. Also are you guys using the Hardwire kit that came with the V1 or what?

why dont u test the wires and see which one is a ground. and to hardwire u just need a basic phone cable, dont need the hardwire kit

I know you can use basic phone cable, but once you pull the cord in half there are 4 wires total. Which side is ground and which is positive on the phone cable? Also the wires are so thin I cant splice them or anytihng.

its supposed to be a lil hard to splice, but its do-able, i believe for the fone cord the one with the line should be the ground

THeres four tiuny seperate wires in the phone cord. I assume two for ground and two for power. How do I know which side is which?

I have exactly the same problem ... I did do a voltmeter check to find the "darker" purp with white wire is power. I couldnt get a ground near the sunroof cover area so I grounded to the vanity light on the driver side. If you take off the vanity light and visor you can see the visor is connected to a ground wire... Its a good ground I just taped that wire. Takes a bit of work feeding it under the headliner. The problem I think I am now having is I am running the unit in reverse polarity because not unlike the guy above me I dont know which pair is which. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
-Thanx
Scott
I figured it out after about 3+ hours of n00bishness. Ok this is how the phone cord goes:
Red/Black: Power for V1
Green/Yellow: Ground for V1
This is colors for your typical phone cord... in this config the power pin is towards the back of the unit.
The way I grounded my unit was ran a ground wire to the visor... If you take it off w/ those 2 screws its hooked to a ground if you tap into that "perfect ground"
Power is gotten from taping the "darker" purple with white lines. The lower bunch in my picture on the forum.
I'm using an 1amp in-line fuse this seems to be working.
-Good Luck I will answer any questions I can muster
