Its not a turn signal socket....I could have figured that one out.
Its a sensor that goes into the passenger side brake duct IIRC.

you never knowIts not a turn signal socket....I could have figured that one out.
What is it for?And where exactly does it go?Thanks
Can somebody please help me I would like to put my car back together.
the only thing i remember going into my brake duct was the temp sensor, and thats definately not a temp sensor. it almost looks like an air bag impact sensor? anybody else? if i were you id be careful with handling that thing
idk but mine is hanging right in the area too i need to figure out where it goes as well.
OK...I still worried now that it might be a airbag sensor....wtf...Where does it go...Does it just dangle there????Please help
Its hard to say what it is by the picure but I can tell you this its not supposed to be just dangling there at all that is for sure.
airbag sensors and anything for that mattter on the airbag system usually have an orange round connector at every junction point so I doubt its airbag. It dosent appear to have pulled out of anywhere I take it?
See if you can read a part number on it and ill put it into the ETK and tell you what it is.
I'm not 100% what it does but I DO KNOW it goes in the passengers side brake duct. I believe it's a air temp/humidity thing.....
Hum im going to go out and look if I have a sensor like that in the passenger side air duct.
Well I just looked at mine, id say id does for sure go into the passenger brake duct.
Interestingly enough though I dont even have that sensor in my car its just a hole in my brake duct and I dont have it.
What year is your car M52Power
Its a 95 325is.
Part#1378400
Thanks for the help everyone
Hum that part number dosent exist
usually a 10 digit number.
last seven digits of your vin are helpful too for the etk.
I said like 12 posts ago that it goes in the passenger side brake duct

Part 61318357632 (THERMO SWITCH HEATABLE SPRAYING NOZZLE) was found on the following vehicles
So what do I do with it now.Im guessing that it doesnt go to the brake vent?
NO... it is not an airbag sensor!
It is a heater sensor for the washer fluid. It is included ont the winter package so not every E36 has one. If you no longer have the brake duct, just fix it any way that will allow to be in contact with the outside air not the engine's hotter air.

Hum well I found out what it is. ITs called a "Thermo Switch Heatable Spraying Nozzle"
Does not appear to go into the brake duct however.
Ill post the pic of it.
Also looke like there is a bracket for this sthing which is part number 25.
Id say its probably a swtich that turns the heat on your sparying nozzels or not depending on if its below freezing or not outside.
Sounds as though you have the cold weather package on your car.
i can't see your pics but if its round and black with clips on the edges then it is the temp sensor for heated washer nozzles, when the air temp is cold enough it heats the nozzles so they dont freeze. and it does clip into the passenger side brake duct.
