airbag and CE lights are on

I just got both warning lights over the weekend, and I was able to pull the code for the CEL:
    SAE Code P0306
    BMW-Specific Code 243
    Description Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected

so I was going to check the spark plugs and connections in that area (from searches done in here that seems to be the common check) and see how that works out...

but I know that I can't do much about the airbag light without taking it somewhere, right? I don't have the airbag tool, and I don't want any problems if, God forbid, an accident were to happen. should I just have a shop check out both warning lights since I need (think?) to take it in for at least the airbag? or are there some tests that I could run for the airbag light (and is there a way to clear that, and would I have to buy the tool to do so?)

    thanks in advance

Um well you have one of two choices, you can pay a shop to read the airbag code, or you can buy the tool to read the airbag code.

I bought the tool because after two resets its paid for itself and from there on you never have to worry bout it.

Peak makes a nice one for this.

but a straight reset doesn't really fix the problem, right?

My airbag light came on, the car was under warranty. The dealer did not have the tool. He sent it out for diagnosis, (Pass seat sensor code) and then had his mechanic repair the faulty passenger seat sensor. Unfortunity the diagnosis was incorrect, light came back on after reset. I got tired of going back and forth. I took the car to a small one-man garage who took the time to traced the issue to a $49.00 control module.

Who did you bring it to? Toyota?
Passenger mat sensors are pretty common to fail but I would have thought by 99 that it was rare. IIRC, early mats had a short wire and could easily break with enough weight on the seat.
