    New E36 turbo manifold

I've been procrastinating tearing my car apart to make this, but I finally bit the bullet and jigged everything up a few days ago. Here is the end result after a long night of welding:

few more pics on my site:
    www.maximumpsi.com/projects.html

Schedule 10 SS pipe, 1/2" waterjet cut flanges. T4 inlet. This one is spoken for, and I have to get one on my car asap! I need to add the external wastegate flange still. It looks like the stock motor mount will work with a GT35 and even larger turbos.

So, um, what about the wastegate?

Do you plan on using a 5bolt or something similar and route the wastegate in the downpipe?

Does the little addition to the turbo allow for better routing of the turbo->IC pipe?

    Price?

Edit - And while it's cool that it clears the stock mount, is there enough room for it to drain properly?

    It is a tubular manifold.

The wastegate needs to be welded. It will be the same as my last manifold:
    http://www.maximumpsi.com/images/lan.../downpipe1.JPG

The elbow at the end was already on the turbo. It needs to be rotated. It's not mine.

It should drain properly. The turbo is still above the oil level.

If I decide to make more, they will be priced higher than the ppf and lower than boostlogic. I need to finish some projects in the shop first including my car and my turbo dakota pickup.

I'm not sure I could without having a car to jig things up. These particular manifolds are too damn tight in the car to be guessing if it fits here or there.

Also it would be very difficult to keep the turbo in the same location as that cast manifold. You are restricted to the radius of the elbows and the shape of the merge collector.

hmm, I wonder if I am correct in calling that an SP71-GTQ piped for a Supra,

hehe, if I'm right, then let me say that is the best sounding turbo I've ever heard. hope it's able to stay on that car. nice looking manifold, too.

EDIT: I just realized after actually reading the post (instead of just looking at the pretty pics) that you made that yourself. fantastic looking job!!!

I guess I don't see where the 'source' for the extension pipe would be. Are you going to take it off one of the runners or cut into the collector?

Just curious, I know you know what you're doing. I've just never really noticed where the BL and the PPF ones are.

That is correct, sir. I wish it was mine, although I'm not shooting for that kind of power with my car at the moment.

Mine will meet the collector in the same area, but have a different flange/angle.

By the way, to anyone who says the boostlogic manifolds are ridiculously overpriced has never tried to make one! I have over 20 long hours into this header with fitting, welding, and grinding/port matching after I was done. That doesn't include deciding where to position everything and the fabrication of the jig. I also fully welded the inside of the merge collector and all of the exhaust ports after i smoothed the runners.

Does this flow better than the BL manifold, in your opinion?

That manifold will outflow any manifold on the market for our cars. The port ID is 1.68" and will support over 1200hp.

    Damn you Mike again BTW.

That is hard to say without seeing a BL manifold in person. Is this the $1900 version?
    http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=488433

I think my collector and runner design is better. I looked at the PPF manifold for inspiration(Imitation is the best flattery, right?)

I normally use sch. 10 1.5" pipe, but for the tight collector and necessary bends I had to go with 1.25" pipe to position the flange where I wanted. I'm not sure about the boostlogic, but the PPF manifold is the same size pipe as mine. FYI, sch 10 1.25" pipe is 1.44" ID and 1.66" OD and sch 10 1.5" pipe is 1.68" ID and 1.9" OD. I originally tried it with 1.5" pipe and the bend radius was too large to get the positioning where I liked.

He was assuming mine was 1.5" tube. I need confirmation on the BL runner diameter. I can't tell from the pics in the link that I just posted. Anyone care to chime in? If they are the same diameter, then I think mine is a better design and will flow better. I don't like how runner 2+3 converge on the BL. If the BL is 1.5" pipe, it is a tossup between overall diameter vs quality of flow, etc.
