AA looks faster. What is the boost on the AA compared to the Dinan?

What kind of transmissions are they running?

isn't dinan something obscenely low like 4.6 psi while AA is something like 7.5 psi?

    I believe so.

Also, I know one car was a local guy, so if this happened in CO, boost levels are substansially lower for belt driven S/C's up here in the altitude.

I would guess the Dinan kit puts out 2-3 psi up here....

That is what I kinda figured. Wonder how the Dinan kit would do with a pulley change.

It would pop the intake manifold before you see any gain.

I think they are both 6 spds. I think AA Stage I is at 5.5 psi & Dinan Stage I is at 3.6 (IIRC) psi. AA Stage II is 7.5 psi and Dinan Stage II is 5.5 psi.

So is this supposed to be a promotional video for AA? The AA car has headers.. not to mention the added 2 psi.

A good apples to apples would be the AA Stage 1 vs the Dinan Stage II, both with stock exhaust headers.

Dinan stage II comes with not only SC, but other things like 3.91 differentials, etc and it costs about 20k.

With money put aside, after watching this video, if Dinan Stage II & AA Stage I (only with SC, no other upgrades, same 5.5 psi) ran against each other, I would have to put my money on Dinan.

Although I like Dinan, Dollar for Dollar it appears that the AA kit puts out more HP.

Now there are many other factors besides price to consider when spending 10-20k on these kits.

No this is not a promotional video. Silver///M posted the video in the E46 M3 section and I simply reposted it in the FI section.

    Ahh.. good point.

I do have to say that FI on the E46 M3 is obscenely expensive.. I'm sure it's fun but damn, I'll keep the E36.

Plus DINAN is CARB legal, and you know that you are dealing with an honest nationally known/renown company supported by BMW...so you know you wont end up like this guy...

Once the new Ms come out, the price will drop. Then I will swoop in and get one. But for $10K-$20K, I think I will keep my car under warranty for a little while longer...

But I have to admit, it was a nice video and both cars performed well. If I am not mistaken, the Dinan car is running around 14:1 afr. I don't think I could get away with that in 115 degree weather with no intercooler.

If you understand the boost delivery vs rpm of a centrifugal supercharger, you would not be as surprised. The difference in boost between a 7.5 psi peak vs a 4.5-5 psi peak, when in the low-mid rpm, will be measured in tenths of psi until the revs build.
