Bill and I are about to get dirty installing the TT stage II kit.
please feel free to post any comments, hints or tricks in this thread, we'll be checking it on a regular basis....as we camp out in his garage for the next 3 days.

Hey man, I'm a professional!
Please document the whole install with good pictures please! I have yet to see any good turbo install pictures for the technique tuning kit.

I want to see porn pix of all the parts laying out ready for install...then porn vids of the car in action when it's all said and done...oh yeah, a trip up to Stamford, CT for a little dyno action
Man, I'm far too addicted to cars...
Keep a drool pan nearby...

we're taking pics but I can't say we're documenting it. I have all the parts going in, sitting on a cart, very eager to get this cracking.
we're about to pull off the head in a few minutes.
Hey man, I'm a professional!
noice...so when's the planned trip east to see what she'll do?
Also, Ron, would this be the first StgII NickG kit sold? Or did you 'make' it a stage II?
sick pics or ban.
Stage II? That's what i'm talking about! Thought you were going Stage I. YES!
I comply with other requests! No more secrets! Take tons of pictures of everything! We don't need you to deocument all in writing step-by-step unless you have no life at all. I understand you probably want to just get the stuff on and go boost! But please please just snap pics as much as possible. Hell, get a couple disposable cameras, take pics, send them to me and I will process the film and send back all the digital pics for you for free.
Oh, here is some advice...when taking off the head, installing the new HG, new studs and putting head back on...be very very patient and very very careful.
What state are you in? Is it a 93 octane state?
I believe themadhatter is in NJ.. where 94 octane is stilll available.. (but you can't pump it yourself )Originally Posted by highboostingm3

techinically, I'm in PA....where 94 is also available.
stage II purchased as a stage II, skipped the stage I infancy stage.
mods are as follows:
TT Stage II
RE DMS
AA Crack Pipe - both to be changed out to a 3" when I get around to it.
plasma coils
m50 manifold
no asc
RE pulleys
3.15 LSD
the turbo will be run through an Apexi AVC-R and Race Logic TC will keep everything tame when needed.
this should be a fun little 323is when it's all done by Friday.

ps - ups just picked up the DME.
Hey man, I'm a professional!
hey .....howabout some pictures?
Well, I installed Stage 1 a few months ago and should be Stage 2 in a few weeks.. the install wasn't too bad. Keep Nick's # handy, of course. He's VERY willing ot help you with support and even calls to checks up on occasion.
As far as tips:
Buy new studs and nuts for the exhaust gasket. It makes life way easier.
Use a metal cutting blade on a jigsaw to trim your bumper support, it's fast and easy.
Install the oil supply line for the turbo while the intake manifold is OFF!! It REALLY sucks trying to so that with the manifold installed.
Set the "angles" of the turbo to their final positions before permanently mounting it if possible, it's a pain to get to once it's mounted.
For the turbo/exhaust flange, get a hex key set that allows you to go at an angle instead of straight on, it makes life easier.
Don't forget to tighten the oil supply line on the top of the turbo.. I got a bit of oil on the ground with that one.
The intercooler elbows go on best with the short end on the intercooler..
I would buy t-clamps instead of the screw types given, I broke a few of the screw type ones by over-tightening them.
Brake ducts DO fit, but it's tight.

Well said. If somebody doesn't want you to post pictures...please just tell us. Or if that's not the case, please just tell us you need more time on that. Atleast then we will know whether we will get pics or not eventually.Originally Posted by DominikM3

Correct. A hex key with a ball on the end allows it to swivel and get the proper angle. For the turbo/exhaust flange, get a hex key set that allows you to go at an angle instead of straight on, it makes life easier.
Yes. The elbows come preinstalled on the pipes so that their orientation is already correct. The intercooler elbows go on best with the short end on the intercooler..
Wow Jim, you must have had 2 bowls of Wheaties that day! The included clamps should be tightened *snugly* with a 1/4" drive socket and rachet. They don't need to be overtightened, as the wrinkle finish on the pipes gives plenty of slip resistance.I would buy t-clamps instead of the screw types given, I broke a few of the screw type ones by over-tightening them.
Right. My goal was to make the widest possible IC fit while keeping the brake ducts. It is a tight fit, but fits nonetheless.Brake ducts DO fit, but it's tight.

Yeah, I overtightened them.. easier than I thought with a rachet. It sucked trying to find a replacement on a Sunday evening. I would just rather not worry about it and use T-bolts.. they come in tomorrow. You'll be getting my ECU on Tuesday!!Originally Posted by NickG
