    DIY: Removing sunglass cubby

Put your hand into the cubby and reach your finger through the hole in the top. Apply pressure to the spring action clip on the bottom side of the OBC and then pull out at the same time.

Pull the OBC all the way out and remove the cables if you like. Then lift up on the cubby while gently pushing down and forward on the bottom part where it clips to the shifter surround just above the shifter boot.

Tilt the cubby forward and wiggle it out of the shifter console.

This is what the cables look like from the back. Remove them simply by pulling them out.

Apply even pressure to the back of the switches and push them up through the console to remove.

Just push the OBC back into place and you are done.

WHen I looked at your pics, I remember why I did the Woodgrain Delete Mod. Why did you replace the whole cubby though?

Just because you could have changed the insert for $7 and not have had to buy the new cubby or remove it is all. The insert is a seperate part and is replaceable.

When I swapped out my woodgrain insert, I had to remove the whole cubby to get it out as I didn't want to risk breaking the wood panel. I'm glad I did - I don't think I could have removed the panel without taking out the cubby first.

Hey everybody - it's been a while. Glad to see BF.com is still thriving.
Any pointers on care and feeding of an E24 are appreciated.

My 12 V socket is not working and that's no good because I can't plug my portable air compressor into my own car to pump up the tires. So, you have to take the OBC out to get to it, right? This may be a dumb question but, do I need to disconnect the battery before doing this?

Did this the other day to see what was wrong with my cig lighter socket. And like a dumbass, I didn't think to check the fuse first. Yep, that was it, lol. Oh well, it was easy to access the lighter socket, no tools needed to remove OBC and sunglass cubby.
